Although there may be some exceptions, Commodore Gaming seems to publish C64 games from very tiny developers or those that no longer exist.
But other companies such as Capcom and Konami amongst several others who have published games on other consoles supported by the VC also have games on the C64. Any chance of seeing them at some point I wonder.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
Ocean were great but there were a lot of movie licenses - Platoon was great. Some other system 3 games like Vendetta would even be welcome... What about Codemasters giving us the Dizzy games? Or Lamasoft bringing on some Mutant Camels? I can't imagine the big Japanese publishers getting that interested in C64 versions, but would like to see more games despite the Last Ninja 3 issue...
But I want to play them on a TV, with a Cheetah 125 + classic controler... As Sean says, some WiiWare updates would be good. Ocean did have great some excellent movie conversions, I got the 'Hollywood Pack' with my C64, Platoon, Rambo First Blood Part 2 and the Great Escape were excellent. Shame about Top Gun and Miami Vice though, urgh...
Although its something to be admitted with a heavy heart for those of us who love the 8 bit wonder, my belief is that the C64 is officially dead on VC. There hasn't been a release in Europe since the problems with Last Ninja 3 and several of its other games (Mayhem in Monsterland in particular) suffer from poor quality emulation. While Nintendo themselves claim the system is still active commodore gaming have gone silent on it and their website doesn't even reflect the more recent US releases. If Commodore gaming can't seemingly be bothered to find a workaround for the LN3 problem (when the problem and solution has already been identified by several knoiwledgable people online) then it seems they won't be in much of a hurry to release any new titles.
Although there are no official sales figures released to back it up my understanding is that C64 games simply havn't sold very well on the VC which in many ways seems to match the Wii's retail output where 3rd parties complain that it is hard for anyone other than Nintendo to make a profit. I would be surprised if something like Winter Games shifted more than a few hundred copies...if that...and in a global market that simply isn't worth commodore gaming's time or money in paying Nintendo licencing fees.
The C64 could perhaps be seen as an acid test for how far back this generation are prepared to go in paying for retro titles. It seems that for many the benchmark has been established and its only those with a nostalgia for the machine that are willing to shell out for it.
