I've not been bothered by the slight hiccups in the game here and there while something is loading, but if it does bother you, you'll be interested to read Telltale's statement on the matter, which promises that they will address most of these issues for the next episode:
Just for the record, it doesn't matter whether or not you are running from the HD or SD. When you "run from the SD card," the wii is actually taking the game and copying it to the hard drive before you even get into the game. That's why you always need to have the full game's worth of space available on your wii, even when playing from the SD card.
As for different SKU's, there's only the one (or at least as far as anyone can tell). I don't believe they've changed it at all since launch.
Now as for the actual problems, it's definitely a topic of discussion around the office, so I don't want anyone to think we are just ignoring it and hoping it will go away. We definitely aren't happy with the fact that not everyone is having an enjoyable experience.
I'm personally really bummed about the voice quality. Obviously the game was pretty rigorously scoped for the 40mb filesize, but no matter how much you plan in advance little things creep in and add up. So when all was said and done we had to make a choice of either cutting content or compressing the voice more than usual. It was a pretty damn hard decision, but the last thing we wanted to do was cut out dialog from the wii version that was in the PC version. In the end I feel we made the right choice.
Obviously, that's not something we want to happen again, so we are working hard on 102 to make sure it doesn't.
As for the hitching, it's a frustrating problem, but both internally and externally (nintendo's lot check) it was agreed that it was within the standards. Which is never a good answer but in a choice between delaying the game a few more weeks or getting it in the hands of the public, we chose the latter. I'm fairly confident that everyone is seeing the exact same level of hitching, but obviously it bothers some people more than others. Unfortunately, exacting standards doesn't mean that everyone will be equally satisfied.
Now, we have an idea as to what's causing the majority of the hitching, so we are designing around it for the second episode, but there was no easy way to fix it for the first one.
Again, I'm really sorry some of you aren't enjoying the wii version. We are looking into some options, but I won't have anything more to tell you for another day or two.
Agreed, I'm glad to hear that they will work hard to get the next episode smoother, and I've greatly enjoyed this episode's puzzles, locations, characters, etc. It feels like the sense of humor from the early games has been fully restored, and that's a big compliment.

On Telltales forums, one of the devs is clearly frustrated with Nintendo's limited specs, more importantly the 88MB of RAM which some is always used by the Wii OS. I thought the Wii had more ram then that.. I'm sorry, but for a heavily compressed game.. I mean HEAVILY compress, 80ish MB of ram is pathetic.
I feel sorry for the people playing the game, but I feel more sorry for a company that wants to support a system but is having trouble because of stupid limits and system specs. (I mean they could easily say, screw this we're releasing the games on XBLA)
Will Nintendo address this? Who knows, but it's clear companies and games are growing faster then WiiWare limitations. I think it's time for Nintendo to list the size limit of WiiWare games to at least ease the compressions. Say 100-150MB limit. That would help alot and seriously, anyone who downloads WiiWare games or VC games is using the 4.0 SD system, so storage shouldn't be a problem anymore.
That's incorrect, they can't simply raise the storage limit to a higher number, for, as the Telltale comment above notes, the Wii system update that allowed launching of games from the SD card is just a shortcut that quickly copies the entire game to the internal memory and then launches it, no different from moving it back to the system and launching it manually. That's why you have to keep free space on the Wii's internal storage equivalent to the game you want to run from the SD card--it's not really running it from the SD card at all.
Also, there's no need to feel sorry for anyone; I've greatly enjoyed the Wii version, as have others, and I suspect the complaints are the typical loud internet minority. The next episodes will be smoother, as promised by Telltale. You also said you feel sorry for the company--no need, if you look at the top selling WiiWare games chart, you'll see that their decision to release the game on that platform has been very successful.
