I do'nt really see this happening. I know most people say everyone says that a new side scroller mario is what everyone wants but that's only us core nintendo gamers. Most casuel or mainstream consumers will either get both or only modern warfare 2.

In the long run yes NSMBW will sell more but this holiday seaon its either going to be a close tie or Modern Warfare 2. It's getting the most press and as i said its not that much anticpation for the game outside of the nintendo fanbase.
The launch is also the biggest in the industry's history so far. But even REGGIE said he was buying Modern Warfare 2.

They really don't points towards New Super Mario Bros. for the DS and even then, I think a lot of 'casual' players contributed to HUGE sales for that game.

Unless it outsells all three versions of Modern Warfare 2, it doesn't really matter. Big man, Reggie...putting up your single-system game against the sales of only ONE of three options for a multi-system title! Idiot.
Sadly, I doubt his prediction will come true, either. The Modern Warefare 2 hype I've been wading through at GameStop lately is insufferable. People don't seem HALF as excited for NSMBW! I was talking with a coworker today, and he said he really wants to get NSMBW (he's a long-time Mario fan), but Modern Warfare 2 was higher priority.
Well, I don't give a crap about Modern Warfare 2 myself, but I AM counting the days until NSMBW launches! GO MARIO!

Mainstream consumers love Mario, they all own Mario Kart Wii. And if you got a casual gamer family, you have about 4 people who will play NSMB Wii together.
Of course Gamestop will hype up Modern Warfare 2 by mentioning it with every telephone call and register sale, but every store publication from Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us, (and etc) in the Sunday paper will have NSMB Wii as a Christmas gift suggestion. Not only that, I'm sure NSMB Wii will be featured on several local news stations as well, just like with Wii Fit Plus.
Reggie said he'll play Modern Warfare 2, but he also said he plays everything. Its not that he's a COD fanboy, he's just in the business of selling videogames and needs to know what the competition is doing.
