Topic: Rare does not know why Donkey Kong 64 is not on the VC yet.

considering Rare was heavily involved in the DKC games, and they've hit the VC, i don't see why any other Rare/Nintendo DK games would also be held back just because Rare was bought out or whatever...

I wonder if they where even informed about the DKC SNES games being released.

I think the reason is simple. Nintendo just hasn't gotten around to it yet. Same reason Yoshi's Island, or Star Fox aren't on Virtual Console yet. The delay might be due to the Jetpac thing also as the person quoted here implied. Even if it were coming, though, we here in North America are so far behind on first party VC games, we'll no doubt be waiting for a long time anyway. (In line: Smash Bros., Pilotwings, Super Mario Kart, Kirby Super Star and no doubt something else by the end of the year too)

Future Wii purchases:
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Metroid: Other M
Zelda Wii
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Sin and Punishment 2

Starkiller

Nintendo has never actually changed any VC games, so I think it's jetpac or nothing.

It's probably Jetpac. That guy even said it.

F-zero X graphics, Pokemon Snap pictures able to be put in the wii message board to send to friends, Mario Kart 64 no ghost data or something.

Rensch

The DK franchise is owned by Nintendo so it should be able to appear on VC.

i don't really care what the reason, i just want the game. it was one of my favorites of the 64-bit era, and the last TRUE Donkey Kong title. i really hope whoever does whatever and does it soon, so i can play this again.

My #7 most requested title to appear on the Virtual Console just got slightly more likely. If Rare doesn't know why it isn't coming, then Nintendo just need to ask Rare/Microsoft premission to release it on the Virtual Console and bam! We have it.

Look from it from that aspect.

Too bad I already have it on the 64. Nintendo really needs to release it though as the VC is in dire need of more 64 games.

Mario Kart 64 no ghost data or something.

That change was to omitting the Expansion Pak from Super Mario Kart.

Simply put, I think, while Rare thinks that Nintendo is preventing the game, Nintendo thinks that Rare is preventing the game!

I just wish they would put more N64 games on the VC period.

Rare doesn't have anything to do with the game most likely, since Nintendo owns the rights to Donkey Kong (hence, could release DKC without Rare/Microsoft approval). If Rare doesn't know why it's released, it means they have nothing to do with it. Ninty loves to delay it's first party games. I'm guessing this is just a patience is a virtue situation like with everything else.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.
