Topic: Nyko Cord Free Adaptor with Wii Motion +

I've had Skyward Sword since its release. It's a great game but, I was growing frustrated by the Nunchuck's short cord. I found Nyko's adaptor for $5, figured it was a dang good deal, and bought it. The problem is Skyward Sword refuses to acknowledge the wireless receiver dongle. I've tried everything I can come up with to no avail. I've tried connecting to the Wii Remote +, connecting to a classic Wii Remote with the Motion + adaptor, checked the batteries, checked the connection parts, looked for interference... I've even tried with Wii Sports Resort. Nothing. The point of this topic is to warn potential buyers of the Nyko adaptor's incompatibility with Wii Motion + but, to also ask if anyone knows how to fix this. Any tips would be appreciated.

Did you buy it at a store? If so you might want to ask the sales person what games it works for or maybe do a google and see if there's a list somewhere of compatible games for it.

Truthfully I have never heard of this item before so other than what I said I dont know what else to say.

http://nyko.com/customer-support/product-support.html?platfor... This is a link to Nyko's support page specifically for the Cord Free adaptor. There isn't anything to indicate a restriction on games it is compatible with. Also, since I can't find the product info page for the adaptor, I assume Nyko is no longer producing it.

Ok well a few things can be possible.

1. The original price is stated as 19.99 you got it for 5 dollars. If you bought it used well than you might have bought a broken one.

2. It could be that its no longer manufactured and new games wont recognize the adapter.

3. This might be a unlicensed product and Nintendo could have blocked this item with one of there firmware updates.

Where did you buy this from?

I bought it new from Gamestop. I guess it was priced so cheap simply because they were clearing their stock. That reinforces the thought that Nyko is no longer producing/supporting the adaptor.

What I find most confusing is Nyko has a full-fledged wireless Nunchuck (named the Nyko Kama), and that works fine with Wii Motion + enabled games. I've seen review videos on YouTube of people using it while playing Red Steel 2 and such.

I realize the Cord Free adaptor and wireless Kama are two different devices but, the wireless receiver dongles look almost identical between both items. So I can't understand why the optional model would not work at all. Nyko doesn't have a perfect track record but, everything I've ever used by them has given me no problems.

I know I'm making this a bigger deal than it is. The adaptor was only $5 and isn't "required" to play my games. Even so, it seems redundant to use a wireless Nunchuck with non-Motion Plus + enabled games. So it's essentially useless in its current state. : (

Well I am just as stumped as you are I guess you can always try to email Nyko and tell them your probably and see if they have any ideas. Other than that the only thing I can suggest is to return it to Gamestop and get your money back.

Also it could just not be compatible with the Wii motion plus. Have you tried using it on a Wiimote with out the motion plus. That might be the reason they discontinued it.

Yeah, I'm going to email Nyko. I'll probably update this post with their answer, for the sake of informing others. I really appreciate you working with me to figure this out. Thank you. : )
