I would also recommend it to fans of Earthbound and Mother 3, but I'm weird.

So Nintendo was just saving all 3 games for a close release window during the Holidays. :/ It's still nice to finally have SSB64 soon.

I am on the fence with Smash Bros. Is a good game but I already have the Brawl version which is way much complete....maybe only for the nostalgia.

If "DW2" is Dragon Quest 2, I'm a huge fan of that, and a somewhat lesser fan of Mother 1. Mother is still cool, though.

I prefer EarthBound Zero the most. I used to like EarthBound, but now I don't. But it would be nice to see these games on the VC.

How do you guys know Sonic and Knuckles is coming this year? I assume you mean VC since this is the VC forum, and not that recently announced DS compilation.

Also, for those asking about the difference between SSB64 and Melee/Brawl. The difference is huge. The game is much slower, there are fewer moves, and fewer characters. None of the stages made it to Brawl. Throws are more powerful, if I recall correctly. No air dodging. Some of these things may sound negative, but honestly it's just different, which is what I like about it. Unlike Melee which now seems mostly replaced by Brawl, SSB64 is different enough to stand on its own (or, if you're a Brawl hater, vice versa: Brawl not being worth it because it's similar to Melee which for some is better). For $10, if you're a Smash Brothers fan, it's worth it for the extra stages alone.

Well a few days ago i fond article on kotaku: http://kotaku.com/187542/rumor-mother-trilogy-coming-to-ds saying that we might see a Earthbond Trilogy for DS for a worldwide audience.

Unless they run a news item on it, don't trust it. They have put dates on Earthbound and other games before. They aren't highly concerned with accuracy.

Look at the date. That rumor is very old and was never once substantiated by so much as a wink from Reggie. And honestly, why would they do this? If they think Earthbound is such a business risk, why pump out a new game cartridge when two out of the three games can be put on VC with no financial risk whatsoever? The only reason to hold them back is legal issues.

@Rhansley64: Even if an Mother Trilogy is confirmed, we'll probably never see it. It'll be another Japanese exclusive. In short, we shouldn't care about the DS game because we'll probably not see it. The only chance we have of seeing more of the franchise is getting Earthbound on the Virtual Console. And no, I don't want a response.

@Adam: You are right, but a 2009 release sounds likely. We haven't seen a Genesis Sonic game since November of 2007 so I think it's reasonable to expect the game by Christmas. But it was due for a 2008 release too, so who knows?

A bit rude to take the liberty of responding to one person and then forbidding him the same right. Don't bring it up (especially so frequently) if you don't want to talk about it, dude.

The reason I think S&K is not likely is that the lock-on technology is not suited to VC. Sure, it's good as a standalone game, but with all of the Sonic games coming out on DS soon with lock-on ability, why release an inferior version of the product on VC? Of course, I'd like to be wrong. Knuckles' game was more fun than Sonic's games, if I remember right.

I know, I'm just the most optimistic guy on the planet, right? Oh well, I was right in my baseless optimism for SMK coming this year (probably), so it balances out, I guess. Here's hoping I'm right about Yoshi's Island as 350th game, too.
