So according to Kotaku, Monster Hunter Tri is among the most-played Wii games. The chart shows games according to the average playtime per owner/renter of the game. Not hours per month or total collective hours played! This means that if a lot of people buy a game and play it very little, it will actually drop on the chart. FYI it shows up as the green circle to the far right.

Here's the full chart (Large image; dial-up warning)

MH3 is a new entry to the chart this month and it might eventually overtake SSBB if all goes well. It's already beating Mario Kart Wii and Wii Sports in its first month.

Good online play ftw!

I think it's already the best selling Monster Hunter in the west as well! Good to see that it's popular.

Not surprising. The game shares several characteristics with MMORGs, which are massive time devourers. Just another reason I'm glad I can't stand it.

@The Fox Although I think it says a lot about Wii players when SSBB, Animal Crossing, Guitar Hero, LoZ: Twilight Princess and a WWE game are the top 5. None of them show MMORPG characteristics at all.

Yer but I only play Monster Hunter every now and then and people are always happy to help so it isn't as consuming as an MMO.

So sells in NA is 220K
Japan is bit over 1 million
the rest of the world 180K
Just to let you all know. So its still just a big hit in Japan.

Considering i played 400 houres of a potential 1050 houres since its launched. Id say i havent been sucked in by a game like that since 10 years ago.

Kudos CAPCOM
