Topic: Is it highly likely that Zelda Skyward Sword will come out this year?

Given we're only a few months from 2012 and Nintendo still hasn't announced an official release date or even a release month yet, could it be that this game will be delayed until next year or even move to being a Wii U launch title like Twilight Princess was for the Wii?

I would say a delay is doubtful. Nintendo needs the revenue right now, to appease its investors, so I think this game will be on the shelves no later than Black Friday.

Yes they said it would be out around Christmas of this year.

And they already said "Skyward sword will not be coming to the Wii-U" They wont go down the road they did for Twilight princess. And honestly, it would be the most pointless thing ever, considering the Wii-U can use Wii controllers.

I'd say it's pretty much guaranteed. They've already said the game is done and that they are just making some minor tweaks before release. A lot of staff at Nintendo had already gotten half way trough the game they said in interviews from E3, they where probably play testers.

A release date will probably appear at TGS or a few weeks after TGS.

I wouldn't put if past Nintendo to delay the game once again then announce that the development has been transferred to the Wii U, but I personally don't think this will happen. But of course until Nintendo bang a solid release date down on the title there's always going to be some doubt. Then again, you have to remember than back in either January or February Miyamoto himself stated that the development was complete but that they're spending the remaiming time ironing out all the bugs and glitches. That was 6 or 7 months ago now, how long does it take to iron out bugs? (I suppose Obsidian would have liked 7 months ironing out the bugs and glitches in Fallout New Vegas )

My personal suspicion is they will do what they did with TP, and that is to release it on the Wii and then also make it an early game for the Wii U

Darn you Nintendo, my backlog is already out of control and you are just making it worse with these new game announcements!!!!

I mean, come on, that's plain stupid.
Not to mention unecessary.

It's a conspiracy, I tell you.

@Widdowson91 - With a game the size and magnitude of SS, it's probable that the game is so large that bug testing can take a long time and thousands of man-hours to do. That's why many big-budget games often have open Beta testing; it's better to have thousands of people checking out a game than dozens of people.

Exactly.

Maybe if we all started using reverse psychology, we can get it to come out within the next few months!
Quick, someone get Pachter to say that Skyward Sword will never be released.

If they do, they'll push it back one full year. It's highly unlikely because they're already too far into development and...what's the point?

There's almost no chance of this happening considering the game's based around Wii Motion Plus.

It'll probably come out towards the end of the year and if for some reason it was delayed, surely it wouldn't be by too long.

In the beginning of the 2011 Miyamoto stated that Skyward Sword was getting it's finishing touches, so I highly doubt that Nitnendo would need to delay the title. Also, Skyward Sword uses Motion+, meaning that it will probably just be a Wii exclusive. There would be no real point in developing it on the Wii U when you can just pop the Wii disc in it and play Skyward Sword like the normal Wii game.

It's definitely likely that we see it this year. But it's also very likely that we see a Twilight princess situation. And by that I mean we will see 2 versions (1 for Wii, and 1 for Wii u) at the end of 2012. Please no! I have waited long enough!!
