Good question. I think disc games prove the bigger time sink, because I tend to buy games that time to complete in that medium and feel more compelled to play through them - certainly reviewing disc releases takes more time because they generally tend to be more complex/deep than the WiiWare games I buy.
Having said that I have so many download games that I've not put a lot of time into that I could have an entire year without retail releases and not be bothered, there's so many games I haven't completed or played enough!
Right now I probably still spend more time playing retail games just because I usually fit in Animal Crossing (I keep the town running so that my family can casually play it when they feel like it without a beloved character having moved away) and EA Sports Active (More Workouts) on a typical weeknight. Overall, though, downloadable titles fit better into my time and budget while I'm teaching during the school year. I bought NyxQuest in mid-February and haven't quite finished it yet (I'm close, not counting the fact that I haven't found most of the relics). I'm not worried about being able to transfer them because there are very few titles that are so evergreen that I keep coming back to them. Hopefully, they will come up with a transfer system at some point or go to a system more like PSN so it's not so problematic in the future.
Moco Loco If you find yourself spiritually drifting (as I was for far too many years), remember that Jesus can and will walk across the water to reach you and bring you back to shore.
For me, it's like 80% Virtual Console, 15% retail, and 5% WiiWare.
Without the VC I would barely even use this thing at all.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
