I've never even played it but I am kinda thinking of getting the new wii version. It looks really neat. Was the original game any good?

I remember it, but never played it.

However, I totally recommend the New Boy and His Blob game. It's very fun and gentle on the wallet.

I never played it but a friend of mine says its very good. I'll add it to my wish list. In fact he said both the NES and the Wii versions are very good.

I remember it vividly. It is a very frustrating and evil game. If you can handle trial and error and replaying the same stuff over and over again go ahead and get it. Not a bad game by any means, just very very trying.

Played at a friend's house a few times. Never knew where to go or what to do, but I loved it for that. Charming little game if approached as a game to explore and play around in rather than something linear to make a set amount of progress in each time you play. The game can be completed in one sitting if you know what to do, I hear.

I played it a lot when I was a kid. One of my neighbors had it. I remember it being pretty tough, a trial and error type of game. Figuring out what jelly beans to use, and where. If you can't appreciate a challenge, you should probably not bother. Very good music too.

I loved it, but would be reluctant to recommend it to anyone who doesn't remember it from their own childhood. It's not an easy game, nor a very logical one. It requires loads of (often unfair) trail and error to progress, and there's a really strange organization to the game that allows you to complete it within a few minutes, or allows you to explore aimlessly for hour upon hour without any reward whatsoever (excepting a higher score).

Again, I loved it, but even at the time I saw its flaws. For $5 it's not a bad purchase, but it might not be the right purchase for everyone.

I remember being on Wikipedia, found it, read about it, and always wanted to play it. So, yay for me.

I remember playing it when it came out and I was very very young. I never remember getting very far and being confused through most of it.

Back in the day, i saw the advertising and walkthrough in the ONM. I thought it looked cool and was something totally different. Since then I always wanted to play it. Never got the chance though.

I hope it will get released this friday, this would be an immidiate download ^^

I would recommend not watching a playthrough if you haven't played the game before. Finding out what to do is what the game is all about. You will be very disappointed if you know exactly what to do on your first run and finish the game in a few minutes to an hour.

I have very fond memories of this game and think I might still have the cartridge somewhere. I ran to my Wii to download it the very moment I found out it was released on VC today. I played it for a bit and now realize just how handy Nintendo Power was. Can't wait to play the new Wii version.

This. Even five minutes of a playthrough will shave off hours of your potential enjoyment. Arguably MOST of your potential enjoyment.

I just started playing and I didn't expect for the game to start up the way it did. No preamble and no explanation of what the jellybeans do. Is this the trial and error you guys referred to? Thought the game would be a bit more linear.

got it for christmas when i was like 7 years old. although it was insanely difficult and honesty, not very fun, i always played it anyways. the new wii version is 1000 times better.

Yup. Absolutely everything is trial and error, and it's not linear at all. (Barring a stretch at the end of the game...you'll know it when you see it.)

The Wii release is much more linear...but I say that in a good way. The NES version was a kind of meandering looseness that does not (and can not) appeal to everybody.

Just wait til you're trying to line up the blob on pixel-perfect puzzles in relation to objects that are off-screen!

I just found out that the Root Beer turns into a Rocket. lol, that was unexpected. I was right outside the health food shop experimenting and it took me to some grassland. Totally random.

I remember the NES game, but had never played it; seem to recall watching a friend play it a bit though. I recall opinions being split down the middle on it, much as they still are today.

Meanwhile, i love the Wii game, although it's being pushed aside for now by NSMBWii.
