Topic: How About A Rental Service For Virtual Console and WiiWare Games

That would be awesome! Think about it, you could rent a game to see if you like it or not! Here's how much the games would cost:

NES (200 Points)
Sega Master System (200 Points)
Commodore 64 (200 Points)
Virtual Console Arcade (200-500 Points)
TurboGrafix-16 (300 Points)
SNES (400 Points)
Sega Genesis (400 Points)
NeoGeo (400 Points)
Nintendo 64 (500 Points)
WiiWare (200-700 Points)

For how long?

You could rent the games anywhere from 24 hours to 3 days.

...How about a demo service? Oh, WAIT!!! We do have that on Wiiware...

Half the purchase price sounds steep.
If this was the rental store pricing, it'd be only like 10%.

One word: pointless. The VC games are cheap anyway. Don't believe me? See how much those games were when they first came out

Rent a game and if you like it, you buy it and get a discount the amount you paid for rent. and if you don´t buy it Nintendo keeps the points. Idea okish but I´d rather see some demo sevice instead.

I'd think demos would be more practical. The price is low enough that I doubt most people wouldn't just pony up the extra cash. Now, a Gametap style subscription option I could get behind.

Demos would be great. I only downloaded Donkey Kong (NES) because of the demo on Brawl. I'd love to have demos for all the VC titles. Being demos, they'd have to be free.

Well yeah, Demos would be better. If anything the PS3's store needs a rental service for PS1 and PSP games.

rental wouldn't work for the majority of WiiWare games. Think of some of the great titles like World of Goo, Lost Winds and such. You play for about 3hours maybe 10 if you are lucky and then what? you are done. It sits on your SD card only occasionally being played.

If I had the option just to rent these games I would probably rent everything and only pay the extra when my playtime exceeded the rental period. Its not a profitable model or... at least not as profitable as the current model.
