Can you use Mii faces instead of those other ones?
No. We dabbled with the idea but ultimately decided against it. Not only would it have taken more development time but the characters in the game look unique in peripheral vision whereas not all Miis would. When you're on a team, it's important that you can tell your character in your peripheral vision so as to not lose track of yourself.
Alright. So it doesn't keep track of wins or losses?
We wanted to include some kind of stat tracking for individual consoles, but we just didn't have time to put it in.
We looked hard at previous games that offered an experience similar to what we wanted to offer, then considered what was within the scope for us. Stat tracking would've been good to have, but it wasn't vital whereas other systems were.
We might've been able to include it if not for 8 player capability, but creating a menu system that could handle 8 players selecting characters and picking teams before starting the game ate up months of development time all by itself. That's where most of our non-gameplay efforts were focused.
Is there some sort of story line? If so, is there one for each character?
There is, though it focuses more on you the player and your interaction with the "host" of the Gravitronix arena. You'll have to beat the last level to see the final story screens which will give a bit of background about the characters and hints to what to expect from their games.
Ok. Thank you. It sounds like you some thought into this, so that's good. Seems like you care about this game too. Gotta hate cash-ins, huh? (Like the Wordsearch we got this week. I doubt there was much passion put into that) Goodluck on this.
edit: Too bad you missed this week, since wordsearch was your only new WW release "competition".

Thanks, and yes, we put a ton of thought into every aspect of the game. We would've tried for features like online play and stat tracking if we felt we could do them RIGHT (I've been reading some complaints about lack of online quality for some of the WiiWare games), but they wouldn't have been good enough that we'd want to ship them.
That'll be the very next thing I'm going to focus on personally, so barring an act of god or the game getting the European equivalent of an M-rating for some bizarre reason, yeah, it'll be coming to Europe/Australia/New Zealand.

So the characters in Gravitronix may appear in future titles by you guys? That's pretty neat. Glad to hear there's some sort of stage progression/story.
