I doubt they will until more of their first party games are available.

I have a feeling that we will see the same games being released again only on different systems. We've already seen it happen a few times, I think this will become more common place in the future.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Looks my preditction was right after all. NOA in their wisdom, decided not to release any VC games today.
I did not think that NOA would do this today. I think this the first time we Americans have never recieve a VC game [correct me if I'm wrong]. Wow, so NOA really was planning this after all.

@SuperSonic1990: Actually this is the Second Time we didn't get a VC Game. The other time was when they released the first WiiWare Games on May 12,2008. And you might be wrong. I don't think Nintendo would stop Releasing VC Games just yet. We'll just have to see.

Nintendo can stop it anytime they want, they can even stop it before all their classics are released. Nintendo makes strange decisions sometimes with no reasoning. I don't think they will stop anytime soon, being that this has been a good service for them.

It looks like you are wrong, because Nintendo has just about quit supporting the Virtual Console. I guess we need to pay a tribute to the VC, since Nintendo prematurely killed the service...

It will have to stop eventually, when they run out of games, but there are still a lot of games to come out, so I don't know why they haven't released any the past 2 weeks.

I fail to see how not releasing titles for two weeks= killing the service; I won't be attending any memorials.

I hope they don't stop it this soon but it's hard to ignore the facts. First, and the most obvious clue, we here in North America have not recieved a game in two weeks. Temporary drought or not, this should be a huge warning sign to everyone that both the amount of VC games available for download and their priority to Nintendo has significantly decreased as of late. Second, the ESRB hasn't rated a VC game in quite a while which means no new ones have been submitted beyond the titles already posted on the website previous. Lastly, even the VC releases have slowed in Japan and I think what we see this Friday, when they post their monthly release list for August, will provide even more indication of the fate of our beloved service. I don't want to be one of those doom sayers but even the most optimistic of us have to admit that it's not looking good.

Future Wii purchases:
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Metroid: Other M
Zelda Wii
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Sin and Punishment 2

Well, I guess two titles every week instead of three or four is sort of slowing, but it's been two per week for some time. If Namco and Sega arcade releases are all we see for awhile, I'm cool with that -- though I would think Taito would do more than release a colourised version of Space Invaders!

Well they won't be stopping VC any time soon is my feeling, for me it's still the Wii's unique selling point (Apart from the motion controls and the popular games) it would be a bit of a shock if Nintendo decided to ditch the VC because it must help with how much they make each year in terms of profit. Also perhaps they are just trying to make the VC last a bit longer, I think if Japan still gets VC titles then it must be a positive. Could Nintendo be putting more eggs into the Wii-ware basket? in my opinion it could be one of Nintendo's biggest assets that they must work on therefore making a new Mario, Zelda or a Sonic title for that service. To be honest I'm surprised that 'New Super Mario bros' is appearing for Wii and not Wii-ware, Nintendo have this potentially massive platform for Wii-ware and they're not making full use of it. Dare I say it I wonder what Europe will get this week, is it our turn for a VC no show?

While I can't say that they have killed the Virtual Console yet, I do say that the Virtual Console is in severe danger of premature death and suffering the same faith as Toonami. And I know what's going to happen if they prematurely kill the Virtual Console:

#1: They will lose the majority of the remaining hardcore gamers who stick with them through video game consoles, including me to an lesser extend (I'll still keep my Wii, but not play it anymore.).

#2: Nintendo will start going downhill like Cartoon Network. It hasn't started yet, but it will if they do choose to prematurely cancel the Virtual Console.

#3: I'll realize that the Wii haters are right, Nintendo of America has abandon the hardcore gamers (Nintendo of Japan is still awesome thought, but who cares?).

#4: I will be getting an Playstation 3 as soon as I can, not wait until Christmas of next year or my birthday in 2011. I will try to get it by my birthday in 2010.

Please sign my petition to save the Virtual Console. It just might be our only hope to save the Virtual Console. And like I said No Earthbound on the Virtual Console = Premature death of the Virtual Console. I'm dead serious.

@Super Smash Bros. Fan 1999-That is good to hear that youa re going to buy a PlayStation 3. It is worth the money.
By then, Final Fantasy XIII might be out.

Don't you think you are being a little paranoid? I am too dissapointed that we didn't had any VC game this week and I am frustrated waiting for more Neo Geo games, 16 bit games, Arcade games and Resident evil 2 64 (please capcom! v_v) but saying that Nintendo won't support it anymore for only a couiple of weeks is a bit of an exageration.

Is obvious that now that they have 3 online services (VC, wiiware, dsiware) is more difficult to balance things out. What are their policies for releasing content, I dunno and I bet that if we knew, it would be much easier to bare.

I think that they want to give more support to the wiiware to attract more developers and encourage them to take advantage of the service, as well as attract more users. Also, there are many games to be released in the VC (like all the 1st party offerings) but iif they release like 5 games a week then it will be more difficult to make the service last more.

Just my thoughts.

And we have to stop it before it's too late! Us fans can change the future of Nintendo.

In the interest of having fewer threads about VC woes I'm putting a lock on this one for now.
