So apparently someone posted a huge spoiler as a topic title on the GameFaq's board the other day. I guess it took them like two hours to delete it, so that really sucks for them.

if that happens here, heads will roll I assure you.
I have to say, the info about putting more emphasis on more meaty side content is the best news to come out of this. Too much of the side content in the original focused on quantity over quality unfortunately (at least compared to beloved sidequest games like Mass Effect or Majora's Mask).
"They allow you to lower the difficulty on a boss if you lose to it several times. There’s no penalties for lowering the difficulty, so people who don’t play RPGs often can still enjoy it." (Dengeki)
Why are they even thinking about "people who don't play RPG:s?" :S Also, they should be aware that most of Nintendo users who've got any interest towards this game, are most likely HC players who enjoy a challenge and the appropriate feeling of success after overcoming said challenge. If the difficulty gets lower, it feels like cheating. And no, i don't think it's good that there is an OPTION for that. Might as well say Dark Souls would be better with an easy option then.

Maybe they're trying to sell it to more people than just the 12 hardcore JRPG fans who own a Wii U.
I don't mind this. It's something that won't affect my play at all, but might make the game more accessible for someone else.

You've got a point there. However, i doubt the Wii U has too much casual audience- most of them are in PS4 camp now, obviously.

As if there are any other people besides those 12 people who are actually buying the game. Sarcasm I know, but still. Its kind of true.
Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

because they aren't elitist ****ers?
Ok then. I demand that the next FIFA game should have some platforming/ RPG elements in it. I can't believe those elitist football fans would have anything against it...

Please explain to me how these two things would be in any way comparable.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

They've confused penalties with the type penalties in football is my guess.
It's an option. They are not forcing anyone to do anything. The fact that you have a problem that some people other than yourself might take comfort in that convenience comes off as very snobbish and elitist.

It depends on how the system is implemented. DKC Returns' approach of press start at the respawn point and selecting ok after having died too often is fine because you can just not press start if you want to try again. On the other hand, the 2D/3D Mario approach of hitting a block to receive a permanent invincibility item is unacceptable as chances are you'll accidentally collect the item when you didn't want it.
It wasn't difficult to just not grab the golden tanooki leaf (or watever it was, I can't remember), since it was in a box you'd have to consciously hit. And if you did, you could just jump down a pit and restart. I never used them, but the fact that they were there for others didn't bother me in the least.
