We'll get them as soon as there's a game that supports them. I'm personally not spending $100+ on another gamepad because I really don't see the point in having two.
They havent said anything about it for ages! Hoping its supported in time for Mario Kart 8!
The gamepad acts as a wii remote (tilt to turn) or pro controller (left stick to turn), and it has a horn in the middle..it doesn't really add to the experience too much
Two Wii U gamepads on the Wii U playing Call Of Duty Ghosts and not being able to see the other persons screen is a major first.
With certain 3DTVs on the PS3 you can have two players see different images while they're looking at the same screen, so it's impossible to "screen look"
@PloXyZeRO Yup. But then, Nintendo said they plan to make it possible to buy games through Miiverse in a further update (hopefully the October one) so soon even this will be feasible.

Oh really? It's about time! I hope they also include a feature where you can turn off the gamepad without turning off the console.
The idea of 6 player mariokart or another game is a real appealing prospect for me. Hopefully the support will come sooner rather than later, as I feel that more than 4 player multiplayer is a huge draw for the Wii U.
We're going on a bear hunt! We're going to catch a big one!

As soon as Nintendo releases the Wii model with DVD playback and the Vitality sensor. Never. I believe if they sold GamePad separately on store it would be prohibitively expensive, like €100-120. And no one pays that for a controller.
If the Wii U install base grows exponentially, though, some games might support two gamepads as there would more people with a Wii U that could take their GamePad to play at a friend's. But I don't expect this to ever be supported by many games.
