It was good. All they said was there was going to be talk of spring/early summer releases. Of course everyone is acting like a bunch of babies because they didn't get a new game reveal. The 3DS love is because there are almost no titles coming in the latter half of 2014. It's all Wii U baby. Be patient and quit whining.
How do we know we won't see more Q3/Q4 games for the 3DS, it's February!!
Well that's kind of my point. The Direct was only focusing on the Spring season and there is great titles coming out with Yoshi's New Island, Contraception 2, Professor Layton, and now the two eshop titles. We are getting Kirby a hell of a lot earlier than I and Mario Golf looks great but after that I think we are looking to get more game releases at E3. I wasn't expecting to hear about a game past June, but everyone else threw out wild predications as always because they are impatient and want a Nintendo console to have a 5+ year library immediately. That's difficult with no 3rd party support. the Wii U needs killer sales during the holidays and it looks like Nintendo is focusing on pumping games then which is fine with me. There was not going to be a reveal today, because they need a big E3.
After having a minute to think things over, I'm rather mixed about it. On one hand, they did say up to titles coming out in spring, but still I figured there would be a bit more oomph with this being the first Direct of the year. Overall I guess it was just simply okay.
....Looks like Tropical Freeze is the only Wii U game I'm getting for the first half of the year... :/
Seriously...no new release dates for that thing?
At least they spoke about Monster Hunter themselves this time with 4U...except they're using footage of MH4 trailers...lol

if you don't want Shovel Knight or Child of Light, that problem is on you and your terrible opinions.
Not that great. For a Direct focused on Spring releases, there were very few Spring releases shown for Wii U. We've got Donkey Kong next week, Mario Kart at the very end of May, and... well Child of Light, NES Remix 2 and GBA games in the middle? Really big drought there. I find it funny how the most compelling games in my mind (Bayonetta 2, X, Smash Bros) aren't coming out then.
3DS looks like it'll be fine, even if that Yoshi's Island game is looking really gross and uninspired.
Inazuma 11 was a nice surprise, although I don't think it'd be my cup of tea.

Two games isn't much, man. Especially for an entire season.

1. They didn't show every indie game coming out in that time.
2. I don't entirely disagree but that doesn't matter much to me if they live up to expectations, and both look like genuinely fantastic games. Maybe not GOTYC but pretty high up there.

How about some Mario Kart? Those tracks look insane. But I agree, indie goodness is delivering. You can't be picky on the Wii U though: you get maybe 1 quality release a month, if you don't like it there's nothing. Don't like platformers? I guess there's like 2 good games up to the Summer, then.
That's it, we saw all Nintendo has left before they pull the plug on the Wii U. Stay tuned for March's direct to see another trailer of X and Bayonetta 2!
you think they won't release a zelda game on wii u? (a new one I mean)
Seems like a waste at this point. They might as well take their ideas for Zelda U and make another 3DS game. That is where the money is.
To blessed to be stressed.
80's music makes me feel fabulous.
What Would Duane Do? Rynoggery
Fangirled out when they revealed Little Mac for Smash. That was my highlight.
This.
The overall direct was decent. It was nice to know when Mario Kart is coming out, although it's pretty late, and see some new footage from Bayonetta and X (my deduction worked!)

I am pretty optimistic on New Yoshi's Island, just because it looks so bad!!, it just seems like one of those titles that everybody says, "ehh", and when it comes out, bam!!!
That being said, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is one of my favorite platformers of all time, so I am a bit biased.

I honestly thought that was gonna be the case for quite a while now.
Me too, but jeez, you'd think Nintendo would try to get more 3rd party support to help alleviate it. It's looking barren to the point of me thinking that they've nearly given up on it. That, or they are woefully unprepared for HD gaming still (which is looking like the case, because the 3DS just keeps pumping out games).
