It's amazing that so many average Joes on the internet are apparently the exact people that a multi billion dollar company need to hire in order to change their current situation. Nintendo have been in the video game industry for over 30 years, but they have no idea how to successfully run their business without the input of random people.
But no, this is exactly what Nintendo need to do in order to turn around the Wii U's situation.

But no, this is exactly what Nintendo need to do in order to turn around the Wii U's situation.
1.Trying to buy Capcom would be counter productive. If Nintendo were to buy anyone hey should focus on smaller studios instead of giant bloated entities.
2.You say focus on making the system the RPG system but forget all the western RPGs which are all the rage. As good as a starting point that X and Shin Megami Emblem will be, I think we can say at least for the first two years of all three systems being out the PS4 will be the RPG to go system.
3. A new tatics game would be boss but it would most likely be a digital game for all systems. When ever a Final Fantasy VII remake happens its going to be a PS4 game just for the Nostalgia Factor. If I were Nintendo I'd get Square to make a new mainline Dragon Quest as well as a new Mana Game.
4. There's no point in this if they don't have the NFL lisence. Just make full on Mario Sports Games that are as featured as the EA sports. (season, franchise, online etc) while giving them the Mario Spin.
5. Never going to happen. Gamefreak has a sense of autonmy and can just straight up say no to this which is why we haven't had a real conolse pokemon game.
6.YES YES YES. Bring back older franchises that haven't been used much alongside new franchises and IPs. Also invest more in making eshop games to fill voids.
7. Yes but I think that Nintendo needs a new Marketing campaign Somthing similar to the WIi or Gamecube marketing might work.
Both those commericals regrdless of being long or short form are easy to communicate what the product is and how one goes about playing. I'm still not sure why this was made. Hell an effective commerical doesn't even have to show people in the game or playing (the recent PS4 and Xbone commericals show this)
The commerical made by NOE is still the best and straight to the point Wii U commerical

Off topic: I love that picture. I will be using that in the future.
On topic: A simple, "in my opinion, these seven things would make the Wii U more attractive" would have done it. It just annoys me that so many people act like they know exactly how this industry works, when they, like myself, have absolutely no clue.

yes
clearly you are the epitome of knowlegde about business
you definitely have more knowledge that anyone at nintendo, the biggest gaming corporation ever
because yo hold the absolute wisdom of what nintendo should do, and they should take orders form one person on the internet
Most people don't seem to realize that nintendo is in a bad spot right now. And if they continue on this road, the Wii U is going to undoubtedly fail. Something drastic needs to be done. They need big name exclusives. Acquiring capcom would be a huge help with that. Capcom will be bought by a larger company within the next two years. The question is who. If they get bought by sony, it would be a disaster for nintendo. They'd lose one of the few supporters they have left. Plus I can't picture megaman on with sony. On the flip side, sony wouldn't suffer much at all from losing capcom since they have tons of third party support from other companies. Which nintendo lacks. And they need to stop shoving mario and zelda down our throat, and give their other IPs a chance. I'm not buying another one after 3D world. I'm tired of them. I'd be okay with them keep making mario games as long as it doesn't take away resources from different games.
1) I'd agree that they need to co-operate with Capcom more, and if they're cheap, buy them. None of us really knows how much that purchase would be for, much less contextualize that information based on whether it would be a good idea for Nintendo. But, yeah... Resident Evil 4, 5, 6, and possibly 7 on the Wii U with Wii Remote gameplay? Heck yeah! Hell, get the guys who make Devil May Cry and tell them to make another Kid Icarus game.
(2) I don't think Sega buying Atlus is actually bad for Nintendo. Monolith Soft (makers of everything Xeno) were already purchased, so that's good enough. I'd love if they made a Xenosaga trilogy for the Wii U personally...
3) Square can't seem to make a good RPG these days anyway, so who needs em? They already said they would never make a Final Fantasy 7 remake until they were confident the next Final Fantasy game was better, so it's never going to happen.
4) Nintendo has it's own sports games. Why would they need the more realistic ones from other consoles?
(5) I'm thinking Game Freak may already be doing this. It's just me with my own opinion here, but I don't really like the mainline Pokemon games anymore. I played Y and I appreciate the fact that they're finally innovating in what was previously a pretty stagnant franchise, but I'm just too old for this... On the other hand, I'd love to play Pokemon Snap 2, Pokemon Conquest 2, Pokemon Pinball U, or a Pokemon TCG video game.
(6) The only problem with the franchises you listed is that Nintendo can't make them in less than a year. All of these take time to create in the range of 3-5 years, and Nintendo doesn't seem to have planned for that at all... Retro was working on Donkey Kong, the Zelda team just finished Skyward Sword, Earthbound has no developer, Star Fox has no developer, HAL is busy with Smash Bros. Where are these games going to come from? By the time they would actually be released, they would be old news...
(7) There's nothing to market.
Honestly I don't think Nintendo are all that worried. It doesn't matter if they're selling more than the Xbox or Playstation, just that they're making a profit, which I think they're doing just fine with the Wii U. If nothing else, they always have the 3DS, which I think is the Wii U's biggest problem right now.
(1) You do realize that buying a company is a lot more than just "spend those billions of dollars". Capcom's not going to be cheap and I doubt they would be worth it right now..
(2) All I hear is "drop millions of dollars on niche games". You need to be able to make that money back in the first place.
(3) Again, you're asking Nintendo to drop money on some game not many will buy
(4) Well with EA losing big brands, this is a golden opportunity to fill that void.
(5) Exactly how many "fans" asked for said game? Pokemon has always been portable and sells a lot on those handhelds. Why fix something that was never broken? Now if they made a Colosseum/XD sequel, then it would be doable.
(6) One problem: Mario sells a lot. Those others do not sell nearly as much. They don't really "need" to give Mario a break. However, I can see Nintendo makes those games along with Mario.
(7) Pay more attention to said marketing. You may find more than you're giving credit for. Also, if you haven't seen my previous posts, marketing =/= just commercials.
You start putting all of these exclusive games together with Nintendo IP, and you've really got something on your hands that is very difficult to ignore. Even if you're missing out on most 3rd party multi-plats, you're still getting many notable franchises that would be unique to the WiiU. If Nintendo did something like this, it would be epic. And ensure that Wii U was a success. Anyone agree?
Except they are already getting exclusive IPs on Wii U and those aren't selling well, so this may not be as great as you think.
Although number 3, specifically remaking 7 exclusively for Wii U, is near impossible, that would be the biggest system seller in ages. That is probably the most wanted remake across the world for recent history. I'd love to see a new multiplayer Crystal Chronicles, especially with the new gamepad features it could have.
This is a common problem I see here. Just because you want a game, does not mean it will be a huge "system seller". Keep in mind that some of these franchises do not sell nearly as much as Pokemon, Mario, or even Zelda. Right now Wii U needs games that sell huge numbers, then those games can come to supplement the content provided.

This would definitely solve the Wii U's problems, but there would be more problems for Nintendo as a whole as a result. I suggest you rename this thread, "How to make Nintendo go banckrupt".

You have the right to disagree with me and the ability to consider anything valid that I say; Please exercise both.
A FFVII remake is undoubtedly a system seller, and not because I personally want it, but because the demand for it has been prevalent across the culture ever since it was teased in a tech demo. It would definitely shift more units than Zelda has (judging from recent franchise sales numbers,) and would cause more of a stir in the industry than a new Mario. I'm not saying they should do it, can do it, or that I know better than a whole company, but to think that an exclusive remake for such an influential game would be insignificant is ignorant of the industry

Problem is, Nintendo would most likely never get a FFVII remake. Chances are, Sony would get it on the PS3, PS4, or Vita above anyone else. If Nintendo did get a FF remake, it will likely remain one of the Nintendo era ones, which is FFI-FFVI. An interesting note is that Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI are the only ones from the NES and SNES that have never been remade so maybe there's hope with those.
So, a Final Fantasy VII remake while being a huge seller would not help Nintendo since it would likely go to Sony's platforms along with Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX if they ever got remade.
Advertising in print and in commercials outside of the traditional video game market is the key. There is a whole world out there, Nintendo needs to launch a massive commercial and print campaign to get the word out there that the Wii U exists.
What is this "traditional gaming market" you speak off? What is outside of it? If gamers aren't watching TV or reading the paper anymore then you can be sure that non-gamers aren't either. The most effective tech marketing campaigns have always been about snagging the enthusiasts and having them drag others along for the ride.
So if anything their goal should be to make the Wii U look as awesome as it possibly can when Wii U owners have friends or family over. Get users to start ranting about how good it is on social media. As far as I can tell that's what they're doing. Ever consider that after decades in this business there's a change they might possibly know what they're doing?

While a potential Final Fantasy VII remake would sale tons of copies and is something i', expected from this Gen we can pretty much consider it Sony exclusive or PS4 exclusive. We've gotten to the point that the final fantasy series is either muliplatofrm or Sony exclusive.
