(1) Buy Capcom. They're about to go under anyway. It's time to start putting some of those billions to use. I think it's getting to a point where gamers need more exclusive reasons to own a Nintendo home console, and that would be the impetus for most of my decision making. If you want to play Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, Mega Man, Street Fighter, Okami, Dragon's Dogma, Viewtiful Joe, Strider, Breath of Fire, Etc., well, you have to buy a Nintendo console.
(2) Make a strong effort to make the WiiU THE RPG machine. Going back a couple of months, I would have bought Atlus. It's a genre that still has a sizable, and worthwhile fan base (especially in Japan). Having Monolith Soft (X) and Atlus (Persona 5) in the stable would be a very nice start, but it certainly wouldn't end there. I'd get Sega on the move with Skies of Arcadia 2, commission Konami to work on Suikoden 6, get localization deals on Namco's Tales of series, get Level-5 thinking about another Dark Cloud game, make another Shadow Hearts or Tactics Ogre possible, etc.
(3) I would approach Square Enix to fully fund a Final Fantasy 7 remake AND a new Final Fantasy Tactics for the WiiU. Also ask for a Kingdom Hearts 3 port, even if they have to pay for it themselves. It's bad that a major game like that is skipping the Wii U.
(4) Find high-end developers to work on new sports franchises for the WiiU. This would be taking a page from the Sega handbook on what to do when EA wants no part of you.
(5) Get Gamefreak to work on that Wii U Pokemon game that every fan has wanted for years, but hasn't gotten yet. There isn't a better time than now to make that happen already.
(6) Make F-Zero, Star Fox, Metroid, Earthbound, and Kid Icarus on the WiiU happen, while taking a 2 or 3 year break on anything Mario. Let's bring other Nintendo IP to the forefront for a few years.
(7) Market the hell out of just about everything that's going on and coming out.
You start putting all of these exclusive games together with Nintendo IP, and you've really got something on your hands that is very difficult to ignore. Even if you're missing out on most 3rd party multi-plats, you're still getting many notable franchises that would be unique to the WiiU. If Nintendo did something like this, it would be epic. And ensure that Wii U was a success. Anyone agree?

UGHHH! yet another one of these armchair internet business guru threads... Where should I banish myself to... The techlab, the cafeteria? nah! I might just hightail it straight to the helipad
Really another one of this threads?? Cant u just write in th old ones we could about one millions of these their getting annoying when people always start new tbreads about the same thing....
1. i think it might be better if they actually saved those billions. just incase they run into a situation where maybe one of their consoles bombs (virtual boy for example) that way they'll still be able to be financially secure.
2. ... maybe its just me who thinks this (although don't get me wrong i have no problem with it) but doesn't Nintendo have its 3DS as sort of an RPG machine? does it really need another? could just be me who thinks that though.
3. if they didn't have kingdom hearts 3 planned for the wii u from the get go (someone correct me if im wrong about that though) then i don't think they'll start working on it for the wii u now.
5. gamefreaks pretty much come out and said that this aint happening ... ever .-. on a personal note its really getting annoying to hear people insisting that it should happen .... no matter how many times gamefreak has assured that the main pokemon games are staying on the handheld styems.
6. ... Metroid ... of course its gona be on wii u, id be shocked if it didn't. i point that out cus it really shouldn't be something youd have to list in with those other games you mentioned. as for starfox and f-zero ... seems like they could end up going either way. kid Icarus i honestly couldn't guess whats gona happen with it since sakurai confirmed that he wont be making another one, but that doesn't rule out anyone else working on it. as for earthbound it could be possible for the other games to make it to the virtual console, but if you mean a new earthbound game then its not gona happen. the creator of it pretty much said hes done. edit: i should also mention that giving Mario a break for a few years most likely isn't gona happen either, and just like with Metroid it would be pretty dang shocking if it did happen.
on a side note .... how come so many people have the magical power to suddenly know exactly what Nintendo should do to improve how its systems sell whenever they enter a forum? .-. why aren't i blessed with this magical gift?
1) Nintendo doesn't need to buy Capcom. They just need to enter in a business arrangement with them that has Nintendo funding a bunch of Capcom IP exclusively for the Wii U, similar to what Nintendo with with Atlus for the DS/3DS.
2) Going after some solid JRPGs wouldn't be a bad idea. Only problem is that they sell like garbage stateside.
3) Meh. I like FF7 where it is now - part of an era in which Square had a passion for making games. I wouldn't be too interested in seeing them remake it as a game where you run down a hallway with a full GPS system and there's a cutscene every 10 steps. Fat chance of that anyway.
4) This would be very good for the console, yes.
5) That would be a damn nightmare and Gamefreak wouldn't entertain that thought for even a second. 700+ pokemon rendered in HD? Yeah. No.
6) While I would like to see those games, Mario sells better than all of those combined, so I'm not sure what this has to do with "what Nintendo needs to do."
7) Yes.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
Open world Metroid Prime would be a very cool idea. Think Metroid Prime meets Far Cry 3, Metroid has always been about exploration, crashed on a war torn planet infested by a new breed of metroid and other hostile aliens with a few helpful NPCs that can trigger quests. Speaking of aliens, isn't Samus a bounty hunter? Half the game could be you hunting down notorious alien criminals.
Install a crafting system where you can gather materials to create missiles, super bombs, health kits, and other nifty upgrades since its survival after all.
Completely agree on a lot of this, i don't see any harm in marketing the Wii U as an RPG powerhouse. I had hoped they'd buy atlus but am thinking that they already have a decent working relationship with Sega that they can still get some exclusives that way. Nintendo do really need another big nintendo direct and reveal what they've been doing in terms of starfox and metroid.
what about better advertising? I bet it could make a HUGE difference already there are lots of people that still think the WiiU is just the controller(that sounds so ridiculous after all the time the WiiU been out that I wouldn't believe if I didn't see for myself)
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

(1) You do realize that buying a company is a lot more than just "spend those billions of dollars". Capcom's not going to be cheap and I doubt they would be worth it right now..
(2) All I hear is "drop millions of dollars on niche games". You need to be able to make that money back in the first place.
(3) Again, you're asking Nintendo to drop money on some game not many will buy
(4) Well with EA losing big brands, this is a golden opportunity to fill that void.
(5) Exactly how many "fans" asked for said game? Pokemon has always been portable and sells a lot on those handhelds. Why fix something that was never broken? Now if they made a Colosseum/XD sequel, then it would be doable.
(6) One problem: Mario sells a lot. Those others do not sell nearly as much. They don't really "need" to give Mario a break. However, I can see Nintendo makes those games along with Mario.
(7) Pay more attention to said marketing. You may find more than you're giving credit for. Also, if you haven't seen my previous posts, marketing =/= just commercials.
You start putting all of these exclusive games together with Nintendo IP, and you've really got something on your hands that is very difficult to ignore. Except they are already getting exclusive IPs on Wii U and those aren't selling well, so this may not be as great as you think.

Advertising in print and in commercials outside of the traditional video game market is the key. There is a whole world out there, Nintendo needs to launch a massive commercial and print campaign to get the word out there that the Wii U exists.

Well, I guess it's about time I threw in my two cents...
1) Capcom is really not going cheap, and, as much as I despise modern-day Capcom, I'm not so sure that they're going to be bankrupt by next week. After all, SEGA was supposed to be basically in it's grave, and now they've bought Atlus for crying out loud.
2) I agree to a good extent, but I really doubt any Persona game in the foreseeable future will be on a Nintendo system, let alone exclusive to one.
3) I would prefer that Square Enix never touch the Final Fantasy franchise at any point in the future. But, it's just an opinion.
4) This actually does not sound too bad, considering some of EA's recent problems with some of it's sports franchises. But then again, I'm not an expert on the genre in the least.
5) I don't see anybody complaining about Pokemon's hanging onto-handheld systems, but if you're talking about a Colosseum/XD sequel, then I'm with you on that.
6) I can't see Nintendo axing Mario completely from the roster, but I wholeheartedly agree that he needs a break. Nintendo's other franchises can and have done admirably on the market, and I don't see any reason why they shouldn't come into being on the U.
