So I HAD a Wii U 32BG but I got "bored" and REALLY wanted a New 3DS (I love my New 3DS BTW) so I traded my Wii U at Gamestop for the New 3DS. I was happy with my decision, but now I'm missing my Wii U and didn't get the chance to play games like Yoshi's Wooly World, Bayonetta 2, Fatal Frame, Splatoon, and Wind Waker HD.
I also want to play some old Wii games on it...
I don't make much money, which is why I had to trade it to buy my New 3DS.
Should I just save up money to buy the NX? or just save to buy a Wii U then save up again to buy an NX? (the latter would be more difficult)
If I were in your situation, I'd save my money at least until the NX is fully revealed and we know more about its capabilities and compatibility with older systems. Currently, most of what has been reported about the system could be filed under the "rumor" category and should be taken with a grain of salt. If the NX isn't compatible with Wii or Wii U games, (and if they aren't available on it digitally or if, like me, you're a fan of physical retail games) I would probably pick up a Wii U just to have the flexibility to play both.
It's really too early to tell just yet, and obviously the final decision is your own.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
Yeah wait a bit longer. If the NX is backwards-compatible then you're fine (unlikely IMO) and you could just buy a Wii really cheap these days to tide you over if you're wanting to play some Wii games.
@blaisedinsd The reason it IS in the conversation is because I assume it's gonna be backwards compatible with the Wii U, seeing Zelda will be both on the Wii U and NX like Twilight Princess was on both GCN and Wii (Wii was backwards compatible with GCN).
I'm impatient. I'd say get the Wii U now. You don't have to get an NX as soon as it launches - you have plenty of time to save, and no time lost missing your Wii U.
I think you should buy another Wii U. It will be harder to find after Nintendo releases the NX, and they haven't confirmed if it's backwards compatible with the Wii U. There's so many great games on the Wii U!
I think they should just discontinue the Wii U already so they can retool their factories for NX quicker. It's not like they are going to sell out of all the ones they have out there collecting dust on store shelves. Never a shortage of them in my area. Then again, i'm just your average customer, what do I know about their business dealings. Wishful thinking.

The Wii U and gamepad provide me with off-TV play for all my Wii and Gamecube games, and most of my Wii U games. This is why I hope mine never breaks and recommend to anyone with an interest in the libraries from Gamecube/Wii/Wii U era. It could turn out to be a reasonably unique piece of hardware.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
If you see yourself playing it a lot between now and March (2-3 hours per day), then go ahead and get it. That would put you at 500 plus hours of play time and worth the investment, IMO.
They haven't said anything about backwards compatibility, so unlike others, I wouldn't take it for granted. Even then backwards compatibility is usually for only one gen, so.... If the NX was backwards compatible, I'd wager a pretty good guess that you won't be able to play Wii games on it.
So, if you look for a system that allows you to play Wii and Wii U games, get a Wii U - maybe check a refurbished one? If you're willing to wait, save your money and wait to see what the NX is.
Once the online servers go down for Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros and Splatoon, I really don't see much value with my Wii U. I guess it all depends on how long Nintendo plans to keep supporting the Wii U after the NX comes out.
