Are your bodies ready for a new fantastic FPS on the Wii U? Look no further than Paranautical Activity as it's an absolute blast to play! I can't say much more since the game hasn't been released to the general public yet, but you guys are in for a treat this week.

Looking forward to it mostly. Anyway, I will buy it, but I won't love it without gyro or IR aiming...

Gotta say that this game is pretty sweet, but is going to be hurt by the complete lack of info the game provides on items, powerups, etc... It's obviously not too hard to find that stuff online, but the need to do so is unfortunate when so much of your progress hinges on making the right calls on what to buy and pick up.

That said, I do love much of what the game provides, but it definitely leaves me wanting more. More characters and weapons. Local or online scoreboards. More control options. More modes (co-op and a horde mode would push this over the top). More game pad usage (though the map is super helpful).

I know it sounds like I think the game is lacking, but that is just because the content available is so awesome that a few changes (more effects when an enemy is gibbed and when a rooms is cleared) or additions (especially better weapons) could have made it something special.

That said, if you have a Wii U and appreciate old school FPS, then this is a surefire must buy. Just plow through the confusing first impression and you'll find a lot to like.

One thing I forgot that was very frustrating and hopefully a glich was when I was pretty far into a good run when I got the "Gorrang's'" Soul item (don't quote me on the name as I really don't remember), which turns your jump into the ability to jump from the ground to walk on the ceiling and vice versa. Kinda cool, except the controls were completely borked whenever I was on the ceiling...

Hard to explain, but essentially they seemed flipped... Only the whole screen would flip every time I touched the right stick and then back when I let go. It was incredibly disorienting and made the item totally useless when it could have been very useful for traversing levels with lots of lava and such. Like I said, I hope it was a glitch. Otherwise don't pick it up and stick to the normal jump and wing items.

That same thing happened to me after I picked up this item, and I thought it's either a glitch or a troll item you should avoid.
It's really confusing and I could never get accustomed to it, so basically I was doomed and had to restart.

I second the issue that there's no item collection/description in the game telling you what everything does. It's all try&error until you start to memorize everything.

Also, no IR or Gyro controls (it's only twin stick again) is an even deeper blow, seeing that on PC this is a game about speed and precision and much easier to control with a mouse.
On Wii U it's the same game as on PC, but with a lower framerate and slower controls the difficulty is much higher than on PC, so ultimately the game doesn't play as smooth as the original. Also, the loading times are much longer on Wii U. It's Joe's Diner all over again, but thankfully the gameplay is much more varied and exciting, so I can see people enjoying this game quite a bit.

For me personally, the graphics are way too dark, and the music is way too loud. I don't see much of the details, and don't hear much of the sound effects. Shame, there's no slider for these things in the options menu.

I still like this game somewhat, but it's a shame the developers weren't able to effectively use the Wii U power for it and make it run as smooth as the PC version, because it certainly would be possible and I'd be really diggin this game.

Oh yeah, I reviewed the game with a 7/10 because apart from the issues it's still quite fast and fun, and the randomness adds lots of replay value. There are also 45 missions to solve and tons of stuff to unlock. It's non-stop shooter action that is perfect pickup&play as well.
"If you're into first person shooters that get straight to the action and don't mind dual-analog controls or blocky voxel graphics this could be the right game for you."
