This game looks pretty awesome but I am curious as to why it seems that whenever Mario gets a skin like Peach or Link, it seems like they can't get bigger. They're always small versions of the characters. Does anyone know about that?
That bothers me a bit as well. They should have taken advantage of Mario's two sizes to have some character's be Super Mario's aize when it makes sense, for example, Marth.
I really hope it's not like that especially since in past games they had Luigi, Toad, and Peach playable and they had all had different power-ups and different sizes. I'm looking forward to this game but some things I'm hearing are bothering me. Such as something I just read about all the course elements not be available from the start and being unlocked over the course of 9 days or something like that. I'm really confused and worried over that. Everything to make stages should be available day 1.
So, does anyone know about the content released day 1? Cause I read this on Mario Wikia:
"The game will start with only one row of course elements, as the game will feature a daily unlocking system, giving players a set of new course elements and themes for the next day over a set of nine days, so long as they spend time on using the tools they have. From Day 7, players can also add sound effects to their courses, using the SFX frog (which uses the frog icon from Mario Paint). These effects will happen when Mario walks over them in the play mode, with some effects generating visuals. Players can even record their own sound effects and add them to the game."
I don't really understand the wording and the daily updates. So is every stage going to take 9 days to make. I'm confused. Everything should be unlocked from the start or am I understand this wrong?
@JesseJay: This trailer reveals how things will unlock.
Day 1 has:
Breakable Block
Question Block
2 Unbreakable Blocks
Warp Pipe
Super Mushroom
Coin
Springboard
Goomba
Koopa Troopa
Piranha Plant
Wings
After playing around for 5 minutes, you unlock day 2's content but it won't arrive at your system until the next day, this repeats until day 9 of which you've unlocked all.

Thanks so much for the information. I honestly think that is a not so smart decision on their part. Maybe unlocking okay but having to wait until the next day. I think that's ridiculous.
But after you have everything unlocked, you have it forever? So if you wanted to create a new stage you will already have everything that you unlocked?
I hope simply changing the Wii U's internal clock will unlock things early. That's a terrible unlocking system.
I agree. Something smart would have been something like "upload 3 levels using only these tools to unlock another set". But for some reason they're treating the entire fanbase like their own personal children.

Hmmm, I think that would encourage spam levels. Perhaps something like instantly unlocking a new toolset every 30 minutes would work?
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

That could work well. I'd like something when you start the game for the first time and it asks "would you like to play in beginners mode, or in advanced mode?" where the advanced mode would give you everything to begin with.

I agree. I don't understand why they set it up like this. I think it's an insane idea and things will get frustrating for those first 9 days. They should set it up where you can unlock things for playing for a certain amount of time but you get the unlockables instantly. Not the next day. I never heard of something like that!!

I think everyone would just pick advanced mode in that case, which would defeat the purpose, you know?

True, fair point. Your idea would work better. Perhaps it would be nice if they did a secret extra way to speed up the unlock, such as unlocking new stuff when you've used all the current items.
I actually don't really care for the waiting, but I still think it's a little annoying.
I secretly hope they do a day one patch after the backlash that's going on. Maybe give them to us faster. Maybe a whole row each day instead of just we got now. But to me it's nothing mayor really. I just can't create my ideas for at last 6 days, if that's really the order of items we get as we saw in the video. :3
I think the step by step is a wonderful idea. While I understand that some people are upset, I see it as an advantage. Instead of being initially overwhelmed by all the tools available, I can try things out one at a time at a much more comfortable pace.
Besides, ten days after release everyone will stop bashing it anyway
Current games: Everything on Switch

@LztheQuack
But you have to admit that the items we got first are a little meagre. ^^
If I saw it correctly you can't even 100% recreate SMB1's World 1-1.. And that's the very first level of Mario's career.
So we at last should have got the day 2 items as well at start(or at last 1UP, Fire Flower and the Star).
I see it as more of a challenge. Are you truly a good level designer? Then prove it using a limited toolset.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)

Not really
Even people that buy the game months after still have to wait the 9 days. So we'll probably hear constant annoyances about it.
