About the upload debate, I've worked incredibly hard on courses and still noticed things after uploading them, sometimes because I see too many red Xs where I didn't expect them. I think that's a moot point personally. Plus, Nintendo clearly makes literally no effort at all to ensure that people put any effort whatsoever in to a course before uploading it.

99mushrooms wrote:

Another benifits to deleting and re uploading is that new levels get more plays. I have been fixing some of my older levels that have gotten 5 or 6 stars and then sat with nothing for a long time without being played and after I re upload as a new level they are getting played and getting Stars again.

That's very true and it's probably because those courses are ending up in Expert. Once that happens, they get played about 1/10 as much or less. That's why I'm asking people just simply clear my courses so they will still get played.

Thwomps have taken to the skies. Run, jump and spin your way through this gauntlet to victory.
This is more or less a re-skinned version of my "The World's Thwomping to an End!" level with checkpoints added. Enjoy!

This next level is a 1 screen puzzle/challenge. You will need to go through all doors to escape. Get the order right and you can escape. Get the order wrong and you will die! But even if you get the order right doesn't mean its easy It's a little bit trollish. I expect you to yell, swear and a lot will quit. Good luck!

Right, thanks to the feedback and advice of @Chandlero, @99mushrooms and @Freeon-Leon, I have quite heavily updated and (I hope) improved the level that was 'Pi in the Sky'.

The tip about the saws being harder than the Boos was helpful, and I have added an extra section to develop both concepts individually before bringing them both together for the grand finale.

I thought @Freeon-Leon 's point about including a 'palate cleanser' to allow the player to take a breather was really pertinent, so I've included a death-proof coin romp that tips the level on its head. Or more accurately; on its side. It's largely inspired by the bonus cloud sections from the original SMB, except it's compulsory and based around the mechanics that build up the rest of the level.

I've left in the slightly divisive Boo-Saw-Cloud monstrosity at the end, and I've even left in the power-up that proceeds it. I thought @99mushrooms 's idea of including a power-up at the bottom was good, but then I realised there already WAS a power-up at the end of the previous section, which gives the same effect. So I haven't made the final jump hasn't got any harder. However, what I HAVE done is include a couple of bonus ?-blocks that can can only be accessed as Super/Fire Mario, and these allow the player to destroy a load of the ghosts that plague Mario throughout the stage; a moment of Pac-Man-like justice. I hope this has provides a reward for the players who manage to get past the final obstacle unscathed, without penalising those who don't.

I feel a lot more invested in and connected to this new version than I did the old version, and I'm pretty sure I've spent more time making these amendments than I did designing the original stage, so I hope you enjoy it. I have one fresh concern about the level getting a bit boring if you fall off the platforms in the new side-scrolling section - even though nothing can hurt you - but I feel the player should only be rewarded if they pull everything off. I had some optional pipes along the bottom so you could leave the zone early if you fell down, but then I thought it was wrong that the fastest way though the level was to fall of one of the platforms.

Anyway, let me know if you have any other comments, or things you think I've neglected. I should have time to play through quite a few of the recently posted ones tomorrow!

In the 10/100 Mario challenge the levels selected are totally random or can I select the option to choose random levels only of one stile?(for example, only Super Mario World style levels). If it's not possible I'll wait until it,hopefully, comes in an update before getting the game.

Its unfortunately random. But you can skip any level without penalty so it's really no reason not to buy game, just skip all that you don't want to play.

@Maxz: I played it again: here. It is a wonderful level and the new bonus autoscroll section fits very well in the setting.
However, I didn't get the hard jump at the end without getting damage. Nevertheless I got the star and had my revenge on the boos. Maybe the powerup before the boo circle should just be a mushroom and not a fire flower.

That is the only small flaw I found. It is a great level with the suitable music. I really enjoyed playing it even for the second time. And you have always be concentrated: I died a few times since I thought I know all jumps.

@Chandlero: Thanks for taking the time to play through it again! And again for recording it. Have you got a capture card or similar recently? The quality has greatly increased from your off-screen filmed videos.

I was pleased to see you make it through the new cloud section on your first try. It's an interesting point about the final powerup. I made it it a generic powerup (FF w/ SM attached), as that's that I generally do without thinking now, but maybe that IS too generous. Given that it's probably reasonably difficult for someone new to the level to get up to the top unscathed, so I don't feel too bad about it, but a Mushroom might make people think more about the final jump.

I'll wait for a few more comments to come through, and I might end up making a version 3. Or, version 3.14159265...

I had a few minutes to play it again this morning as well. I can't say I like the new auto scroll part because I didn't get to play it, that warp effect messes with me more than it should and I fell right away. I want to play it again though and probably will when I get home tonight, I got to the top by the difficult part while still big and made it across without getting hit.

@Maxz: By watching @Chandlero 's video I can say the level has improved. The last section still seems a little too hard, IMO it might've been better to give a star instead of a FF w/mushroom, you'd still be using the moving platform skill but in a safer way (as this is the final challenge) and with a sense of revenge. Kind of like a reward by fun challenge. I saw you did that in the last bit, but I think it could be more satisfying with that last challenge instead.

I'll play it tonight and give more feedback!

Ok, I watched through the new video and paid more attention to the scrolling part and it looks fun, I also see how you get the extra power up and where it comes out. I like it, but I disagree with the ending being too hard while the power up is there because you can still just take the hit and plow through it. I still think you should take the final power up out so you only have that if you get through the side scrolling part. As it stands the side scrolling part is pointless because you can get the power up either way. Whatever you do its a great level though I had a lot of fun with it.

Alright, here's my latest effort. It's tiered so there should be something for everybody. As you get better, try a higher level of difficulty for more of a challenge!

With this level, I've hit the upload cap. All I can do now is play levels that everyone has made until I get more Stars... Sometimes, I can't be bothered to tell someone here that I played their level, but if you see a "LuigiMan" on your recently played listed; know that I gave your level a go!

btw, your total score is what you got after beating the level itself, not just after the race section.

So this is my very first stage... It's not that complex of a stage, really (since I only had like 11 tools to work with). Give it a go and tell me what you think of it.

@DreamyViridi I'm very much willing to play your courses.

Leave a "enter" space before and after the link. Like so... ^^

I'll be sure to give this a go later.

After making a bunch of easy courses, and people still dying on them, I decided to go back to making something I'd want to play.

I'm really thrilled with the way it turned out. So I hope everyone will check it out.

As always, I'm open to any feedback offered.

Thanks for your time.
