but I suppose something tipped you off to do something in that stage that wasn't intended, perhaps by grabbing the extra P Switch at the beginning?
yeah that's exactly what happened: I was one P-Switch ahead.
Don't feel bad though, there's really no way to iron out these things without being told by other people who have tried the level. I mean, it's hard to predict how different players will tackle things - that's why games are tested before release after all.
Good job though, I'm sure your next high pressure level will be great.

@Mk_II: When you take a look at your stage it has Xs where people died. Unfortunately I have no idea how to/if you can check the sub-world but the rest is there.
I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke! My YouTube Channel! Video game related, of course! My Pushmo Levels

@Mk_II: yeah, it's pretty handy! especially if you have a course thats been uploaded for a few days and had people play it- you can see where people keep dying and think about how to fix it accordingly. I don't think sub worlds are included in it though.
I actually just re-uploaded my Bowser Castle stage tonight after re jigging it. As I was fixing it I had my partner play through it (she doesn't play platformers often).
hey people I want you to know that I've just sent NintendoLife an email via their contact form, asking if they agree in having a weekly top-5 of the levels made by the community on the website.

@spizzamarozzi: Sounds cool, but it depends how they pick them. Like, I don't expect mine to win, but if they used their Super Mario Maker website system I wouldn't have a chanceโno has liked or rated mine at all!

@MasterWario: no the system must be: one member of the NL staff plays them and picks his/her favourites. No cheating through the awful SMM current system where you can vote your own level (bleh!!).

I only need 7 more stars to get 50, but I might take a break on making levels because it took me like four hours to make my last one. I'll just play levels for now.
@spizzamarozzi: Great idea, hopefully they'll go for it.The community share they gave us could and should have been great but it seems to be suffering the same problem as the game.Majority of the levels have no ratings, likes or comments. and the ones that are the most popular are all by the same people. For your idea maybe they could let us submit 1 level each per week, even then though not sure how they can get round to playing them all.
@Rexcalibr: Mario 2 or gameboy Mario level types, check points (pls), vertical maps, and slops.
block off the end of the level entirely and use a subroom with a boss in it with a pipe at the other side? I know a lot of people would skip but I'd more than likely defeat him personally. It'd be neat if killing a boss was tied to making a platform appear.
@Rexcalibr:
It took me 12 hours to build my most recent course...
If by slope you mean a single block cut diagonally, I totally agree. I want to run on walls like in SMW! I think a desert dlc with shy guys and pokies is possible.
@OorWullie: I haven't saved the full text I've sent them but it goes like this: we submit one level each to keep quality high. Somebody from the staff plays them and picks his/her top-5, with added comment to justify their choices (could also be in video form, why not, they have the technology to do it) - you know, classic top-5 stuff. In return, we mention in the miiverse description of the level "this is a level for nintendolife.com" or stuff like that, so to attract other people to the website. Sounds like a good deal to me.

@Rexcalibr: I've still to get round to playing your levels,I'll do that now.I received my 50th star just as I was finishing up my 10th level, perfect timing.Last time I looked I had 55,hopefully my 10th course has bumped that up.
If there is one lament I have with this game, it's how a lot of people skip levels without giving them a few tries at them. I get the notifications when someone plays one of my levels, so I look to see if they beat the level and I can tell how many times they tried the level before they eventually skip it. There have been a fair number of times where people just try it once before moving on and they die at spots that aren't exactly too tricky.
The problem is that this might instill a mentality that the stages have to be made easier so they can beat it on the first try without having to put in some effort, but I feel like my courses won't reach their full potential unless there's at least one challenging spot, whether it be a puzzle or a tricky bit of platforming. Levels stick out in our mind in past games because there was some obstacle that we were happy to overcome, and I feel that is lost in this game because we can skip levels whenever we please.
Of course, taking out the option to skip stages won't solve the problem, because there are some truly terrible levels that deserve to be carted off, sent into space, dropped into the water, or thrown to the dogs (depending on which direction you feel like swiping), but some good courses are being skipped because the option is there.
Just my two cents, really. I don't think there's a better option to what we have now, but it is an issue.
I played your stage "Wall Jumps Will Work". I thought the wall jumping around the Piranha Plant start was good but just honest opinion, the part right after that where you jump to a ledge on the bottom was a huge difficulty gap and when you are reaching down to that area, there is nothing really alerting you that you need to slide down instead of just drop down because there is a bottomless pit.
I gave the level a few shots and couldn't get past that part, and it seems like a lot of deaths occurred there from people who played your level. That said, you got 21 stars out of 89 people who played the stage, which is really good in my opinion. The amount of people completing your stage I guess isn't always a factor on how many stars you will get.
In return, if you have time please play my stage, Lemmy's Circus.
another thing about your earlier post on how you check out the layout/map after dying a few times on a stage to see if it's still worth playing, it wouldn't really indicate anything on a map like my level I posted. It's just aesthetic and the entire stage is really in the sub-world that you won't be able to see on the map.
@spizzamarozzi: Sounds good to me.Would love to see some levels be reviewed and scored by the staff or is that being too ambitious haha
Cheers for your comment on my level,if you hadn't mentioned Dark side of the room I would never have come up with that haha.I was at 'The Wall' part for an age, just couldn't get it right.I think a lot will not even notice it says 'The Wall' on it.
