Ah ok then.
Well I'll just say I think they should consider the free DLC route more, unless it's a massive addition (like MK8)
I think it often works out to their benefit because it keeps the game relevant for longer. That kind of popularity ends up making other people buy it who might not have otherwise.
I dunno, I got the sense that they'd just deliberately done that with Splatoon. It seems unlikely they ever meant for a full price game to have just 5 levels included in its price.
The initial release of Splatoon contained 10 stages, which were unlocked during the summer. And the Splatoon Direct (one month before the Splatoon release) already announced a big update for August (with more content). According to the data mining leaks, it seems like the current 2.0.0 update of Splatoon contains a total of 16 stages.
Nintendo said at E3 2015 that there are no plans for DLC in Super Mario Maker.
For Mario Maker there's an easy way around it. If a level uses an item or theme from some DLC you haven't purchased then it simply doesn't appear for you. Easy. Alternatively they could just make the DLC free. Not unlike how they unlock extra content in Splatoon.
That'd be a hit or miss solution if progression in the level is dependent on that 1 particular item.
As others have pointed out, I meant the level. Effectively getting around the problem in the same way that they do in Mario Kart 8 but with courses rather than users. Though reading it again I can see why people were confused.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions

I could see them do the DLC similar to Smash's. The data is all in the update and everyone can play levels with DLC content. I am thinking that a sort of method of play 20 levels with DLC over 3 days to get some of the content released to people in a slow drip.
Considering that Nintendo saw fit to charge $3 for 3 measly levels in New Super Mario Bros. 2, I'm sure that they'll charge at least something for any Super Mario Maker DLC that may be released.
Porygon did nothing wrong.

Some random dude on Nintendo Life.
Toriel left for a while, so Freaky Fred took over her place!
Not changing this part of the signature until Nintendo announces Super Mario Sunshine 2.

I could still see there being DLC whether it's free or not. I remember seeing articles about how Sakurai said Mewtwo would be the only piece of DLC for Smash Wii U/3DS.

Yes, and that was supposed to be the case until someone forced him to make DLC. cough*Iwata*cough
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.

Someone correct me if I'm remembering wrong, but I thought Sakurai said that Mewtwo was the only DLC they were currently working on, which meant he didn't technically rule out further characters.
I've got a great idea for a level, I just hope no one beats me to it >.<
Funny, I thought exactly the same..
But I already encountered 2 ideas that I have. Not exactly the same, but the concept...
I mean.. It's not like that they're rebuilds or unoriginal... =/
Oh well. I'll do it anyway.. Just better.
Thinking on my idea, has anyone seen if after beating a boss you can make blocks disappear, or a pipe appear? Or is it only battle and done, no alteration to the environment?
Poyo! <3
