Did you even bother reading the title? It's "What Game haven't you played that you should have?" These people aren't haters at all, just listing games they haven't played! It's called gaming sins because they're listing games that it's a sin NOT TO PLAY IT.
Who exactly are you calling out with this rant?
From what I can tell everyone posting has been civil and ontopic.
Sorry, what? Did you not read the opening post?
Why is it now not acceptable to correct someone's misunderstanding without it being called a rant? The posters so far have been civil and on-topic...that has nothing to do with anything.
@Geonjaha
I don't see how I misunderstood it, read my post again. I understand these people are saying they should have played it. My point was that if gamers who know Zelda/Mario are worth playing didn't get into it on one of the best selling systems of gaming history why would they buy a Wii U for it? If they have never played Mario/Zelda why should it be assumed they'll buy a Wii U for it?
My question was intended to create a discussion about whether or not Nintendo need more than just a great Mario/Zelda to turn the Wii U around. That maybe they need to create new IPs and do something entirely different to get the Wii U back on track. It seems some disagree and think the fact that people who aren't prepared to part with their money for Mario/Zelda recognised that they're important games is enough. That that fact is proof that people are still interested in Mario/Zelda.
Which is fair enough and probably true..... but if you were to ask that ten years ago it would have been very different I think....

Surely if anything it acts as more reason for them to buy the system. It's a PC gaming forum - most of the posters probably never owned the consoles for the games they're saying they'd like to play. Buying a Wii U for new Mario/Zelda games as well as being able to get the old ones on the VC would mean they finally can (legally) play those games that they didn't have a chance to. If they don't plan on getting it then their minds probably wont be changed no matter what Nintendo do - they're PC gamers; they already have the superior platform.
I don't think that's the case infact the two people who are behind the "company" that the forum surrounds both own Wiis. For the last month now they've done weekly live streams of Super Mario World as an "afterparty" to their weekly live tech discussion thing. This week in the discussion surrounding the XBox1 there was this exchange regarding the Wii U: http://youtu.be/LlvyUNn6N74?t=21m3s
So I don't think it's fair to conclude that just because someone's a "PC gamer" they automatically rule out all console gaming. The Wii U in particular has it's own little niche even if there is more than a fair amount of misinformation. The problem is, and this was my original point, this next group of kids in their late teens and early twenties didn't grow up on the SNES or NES like the people in the above video did. If they were in Australia they were probably too young to remember A*mazing. Showing a HD Mario won't make them instantly buckle at their knees saying "I remember Mario, HD Mario, nostalgia, take my money". Instead they probably just understand the significance but conclude Nintendo games aren't really their thing anyway.
I think there's a lot Nintendo could learn from the voices of people who don't understand what the appeal is.
