It makes sense. Nintendo is done supporting the Wii U so why should you expect third parties too?

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

don't give me that corporate fat cat talk. We want Stardew Valley.

@Rexcalibr So then get it on PC now or PS4/Xbox One later this month or on Switch when it comes out for that. It's not like the game got cancelled completely and there is no way to play it.

@Rexcalibr Nintendo didn't trick anyone. It's business that's all. Wii U didn't live up to the expectations it's life is over and now they are preparing for the launch of the Switch. Logically and fiancally it makes no sense to support a dead system.

Unfortunately this does make sense. The audience that is still playing Wii U now but won't get the Switch is pretty small I imagine. If it was a game cancelled even last year, I'd be more annoyed as I feel this is the perfect game to come out on Nintendo (even ignoring that it was more relevant last year), considering the stupid situation with Harvest Moon nowadays. But the amount of gamers this affects is almost certainly tiny.

Yes you can.

Anyway if you still want to complain why don't you do so in the main thread?

It's too depressing seeing everyone excited and hyped for the game only to be tricked by Nintendo.

Nintendo didn't ax the game, so why are we being tricked by them?

They screwed up with the Wii U, yes, but at this point it's time to move on and everyone knows it. If you want to be stuck on the Wii U, that's fine, but you're not really getting much sympathy.

Disappointed, and a bit surprised that it happened so close to when it was supposed to be released.

While not without some sound business logic, I'm not sure why they didn't just ignore the Wii U from the start rather than announce it was under development just half a year ago for a Q4 release. Nothing earth shattering has happened with the Wii U marketplace in the past 6 months and it was hardly a state secret that we'd enter the next-gen of Nintendo gaming in 2017. So why build up our hopes for?

So such a late release announcement made me think they were serious and would follow through with a game that seemed well suited for the Wii U and its audience, although I was confident the moment console ports were first announced that a next-gen Nintendo port would appear in 2017 regardless.

I'll wait for a Switch version now, but I would've liked to have seen what they could do with second screen support on the Wii U while playing it on a television. We'll never know now, unless there's some surprise with the Switch that allows you to still play it on a television while the screen is undocked and held in your hands.

I wonder when we'll hear similarly with Kerbal Space Program now. No news surely can't be good news, winter 2016/2017 like it was scheduled for is awfully late for the Wii U, and it has frame rate struggles on the much more powerful XB1/PS4. Can't imagine them following through at this point, so I expect to see another anticipated eShop release jump ship shortly.

@GoneFishin Well if the Super Mario Maker port rumour is true, there almost has to be something about Switch's hardware we don't know about.

They should have announced the weren't going to release it months ago instead of waiting weeks before it was supposed to be released to say anything. Surely they knew it wasn't going to happen a long time ago.

It wasn't even announced long ago. More like May or June of this year...

If you're referencing an unseen ability to play on your television while the Switch itself is undocked, not really.

I can easily see touch screen course creation being limited to handheld mode, while you use motion control or even the analog stick when playing it on your tv to create courses. With the grid based nature of the editor, it's not exactly a big leap to see it being usable with traditional controls.

Heck, who says they even have to allow you to edit courses while looking at your tv? If Nintendo wants to limit that to touch control only, they could easily throw a prompt up telling you to remove the unit from the dock when you enter the editor. Nintendo's making it as easy as possible to dock and un-dock the unit, after all, so it's hardly a hurdle or inconvenience of significance.

And there's always the chance that Nintendo's smartphone initiative might open up some possibilities here to provide for a 2nd screen while the Switch is docked. The competition has done some stuff like this, for instance.

Just get the thing on PC if you want it so badly...Wii U is pretty much done with, get over it. At least Nintendo is still getting the game.

I've would've wished they've done a dual release on both consoles but bleh. Minor annoyance.

Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.

I can't! I have a Mac and it won't work unless you download some stupid program that never works.
