I recall being able to link it to the GBC Mario Tennis via N64 transfer pak to unlock extra characters. I hope we don't miss out on those
The GBC game unlocked extra courts, not characters.
Like Mario Golf, it also had the ability to transfer the GBC characters to the N64 game, but these weren't "unlockable characters", they were "your GBC characters with the exact stats they had at the point you transfered them". That obviously can't be implemented.
I prefer the classic controller to the wii motion controls so I think I'll get the N64 version instead of buying the Wiimake MPT. I just hope this version hasn't aged poorly.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
MLB 11 The Show
Hitman: Absolution
Since the Wii does play GC discs, it does give me that option. So that begs the quesiton of which is the best version of Mario Tennis: N64, GC, or Wii-make?

N64 is classic tennis; MPT is more about power-ups. And some don't like that. I, on the other hand, LOVE MPT which is why I'm hesitating to get 64. I have both the GC and the Wii version. They're both great, but I think the GC delivers a faster pace and a slightly-less forgiving challenge factor.
