There is no other way for us europeans. For me its better to play it 50 Hz than not to play it. I Hope someday nintendo will fix this problem. The only game i feel the slowdown is Metal Slug for NeoGeo.

@outrun2sp i dont think its option for everyone to mod all there consoles.

I've never actually noticed until I saw a comparison video but it doesn't really bother me with old games that I'm paying next to nothing for but crapy PAL conversions for modern games annoy me(looks at Madworld!).

Ahh the familiar issue - yes, Nintendo has no excuse for this - rubbish needless 50Hz presentation of games, advertising '60Hz' Megadrive imports that actually run at 50Hz then claiming they have no responsibility for the content.
This is why I still have my modded retro consoles.

@cowboy - if you're a Metal Slug fan, might be worth getting SNK arcade classics Vol.1 - has a 60Hz version of the game you can play with the classic controller (the anthology omits this support, though is still 60Hz and plays ok with a gamecube controller).

If you want 60Hz classic Sonic games on a PAL Wii, get Mega Collection for the Gamecube.

I found the Gamecube controls to be quite horrible for old Sonic games. I didn't like using either the stick or the d-pad.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Oh yeah I forgot - I have the Hori pad for the gamecube. The Analogue stick is a problem - I also have Sonic Jam for my modded Saturn and the original cart for the Megadrive, a history of avoiding 50Hz...

Don't forget the Classic Linker Plus for playing your Gamecube games with a Classic Controller or PS2 pad! Works for Metal Slug Anthology just great; I also use it to play Drill Land on my Japanese Wii because the analogue stick just doesn't feel right for these digital games and the Gamecube D-PAD is simply shocking.

@Sean - So, the Classic Linker Plus lets you play with the analogue function of the classic controller on Metal Slug anthology!? I must get one if so...

I suppose, but why would you want to? The only reason I use the CL+ is to use the superior d-pad!

Lets not forget there's also the issue that import games are now being frequently "downgraded" into 50hz and misadvertised as running at 60hz by Nintendo themselves. As noted in the following article by yours truly:

Sorry but nobody can use the hoary old "that's how they were originally" line with those titles. They NEVER ran that way in the 90's and shouldn't be forced to in 2010 just because certain people in charge of Megadrive and Neo Geo emulation are doing a slapdash job.

@Sean - whoops I meant digital! I could go back and edit my post but hey, everyone makes mistakes! Yes, I want to use the pad...

@Betagam7 Yep, Nintendo's response to any complaint about this mis-advertising is that it is not their responsibility and they dont control the content of 3rd pary games (even though the descriptionon is on their channel / console). I'm not sure about the legal situation but either way their failure to do anything about this is very poor.

Final Fantasy II is coming this week.

Is that the SNES one, aka FFIV? If so that will be one of the few PAL VC purchases for me!
