A good example of Nintendo's "free-gifts" in the Japanese market...
Last year in Japan, Club Nintendo gave out some serious swag to Gold and Platinum members.
Gold: Recieved a Gold-plated Mario Kart wheel Platinum: Recieved the wheel^, as well as a Classic Controller replicated to look like a Super Famicom controller!
We can only hope NoA and NoE do something half as cool.
I would absolutely love to have an SNES Classic Controller. I dislike having those analog sticks in the way when playing SNES games. I'd also like to see Tingle's Balloon Fight either as a gift or as a reward option, though I don't imagine NoA would bother with localizing it.
that's not bad swag. I've got gold, but I don't think I can justify buying that many more games. Yay full time job and 2 - 2.5 hour daily commute. I just don't have time
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
I had no idea we were even getting a free gift! Thanks for the details, Black Dragon.
ahh, free stuff -- it's the only reason i bothered with Club Nintendo at all, really.
I hope we get something cool like that SNES-style classic controller this year... man, i know those things go for $60+ easy on eBay, but I would love to have an honest-to-god SNES controller to play all my old SNES games with on the VC.

Thanks blackdragon. Now I know that there's no need to rush as far as spending my points balance; I've still got well over a year before anything will expire.

@ Adam True, All-Stars would be the first game collection on the VC, so I can't really theorize. Damn you, Adam! You've pierced the fragile armor of my flawed logic! Let the battle of Boy And His Blob avatars begin!
If we get shafted on a good gift. There are 3rd party converters out there that work through the GCN ports on the Wii that allow for old-school controllers from old systems (got on for my Genesis/SMS stuff, works great).
@Chatham: if we get shafted this year, i will look into that. thanks for the heads-up. :3
also, my vote is for adorableness.

i think most fans own all of them anyway so mayb if nintendo did a poll 2 see who all of them if its more than lets wateva the percentage is nintendo is looking 4 i'd say go 4 it
I would definitely buy All-Stars on the VC if it ever becomes available, as I never owned the original SNES cart even though I wanted to. I already own the games seperately, but most of all I would appreciate the level-by-level progress/continue system in The Lost Levels, because I'm currently stuck in World 8 of the VC release of The Lost Levels.

Wow, kudos for getting even that far! Granted, I am still trying to beat it without warp zones, but I can only get to world 6, I think... and that's on a good day.

Yeah, no warp zones for me either. I don't even know if World 9 and A-D are even in the original game... o_O Or even how to get to them....just beat World 8 without warping?

To get to world 9 you have to beat world 8 without warping (forwards or backwards). Don't get freaked out when the levels keep repeating themselves, they're meant to, the only way to end it is to reset. To get to worlds A-D you have to beat the game (represented by stars on the title screen) 8 times (I don't think it matters if you warp).
In All-Stars world 9 precedes worlds A-D, you can also get to these last 4 worlds by simply beating world 8. This is another reason to have All-Stars available if you ask me.
I played all the secret levels on All-Stars, and I was surprised at how very easy they were compared to the levels of the normal game. Did they make any significant changes to the secret levels in the All-Stars version?

I'm not sure about level changes except that the congratulatory message in Japanese isn't in world 9 on All-Stars.
I think subtle changes like better control of Mario and Luigi might make the last levels a lot easier, but I think the extra levels are meant to be more novel than difficult. Also, I think the All-Stars version saved after every level, so that could make a difference. For instance, if for arguments sake all the extra levels are easier than world 8 except for one level, then in the original version that could still make the extra worlds more difficult as you don't get as many chances to get past that one extremely hard level. Does that make sense? I'll be quiet now.
