I love Lylat Wars to death, and play it regularly. Sin and Punishment is nothing like it, it's just a confusing mess. There are some fun parts, but if you are no highscore hunter i wouldn't get it.

Hey guys. I have 600 wii points left do you guys know any good games I should get.

I have these games that are 600 or less

Double Dribble
Bonks adventure
Legend of Zelda
Mario Bros 1 2 &3 (and lost levels)
Double Dragon
Kirby adventure
Punch-out
Zelda 2 adventure of link

So the only ones I have in mind are Blaster Master and StarTropics but I haven`t played either (I grew up during the ps1 n64 era) which of the two do you think I should get, if there are better ones let me know.

PS. My question mark key isnt working for some reason so thats why there are no question marks (when I try I get this É :S)

Do you have Nuetopia? If you have an interest in Zelda-style games, I'd recommend that over the first two adventures.

Once again I second that. Neutopia starts off a bit on the slow side, but eventually gets REALLY fun.

Thanks Mickeymac. But now I have a bigger problem lol. I don't know between StarTropics, Neutopia, and for some reason Blaster Master is hard to pass on. Which of the 3 should I get?

Yes. Trust me, you'll get used to the controls, so long as you use the Training mode beforehand. Also, just thought I'd mention that the game is incredibly different when you up the difficulty, so there is an incentive to play on all 3 difficulties. It's also more fun on the harder difficulties, IMO.

Interesting. Well next time I get a points card I'll be sure to give it a shot.

Hello VC fans. I have 1200 Nintendo points to burn and I want to have some fun. Can you help me out based on what I have and haven't enjoyed in my VC experience?

My favourite games are:

  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metriod
  • Lylat Wars (Starfox)
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Street of Rage

My biggest mistakes were:

  • Harvest Moon
  • Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Super Mario RPG
  • Paper Mario
  • Mayhem in Monsterland

Any suggestions to help me?

I would suggest Shining Force, it is a fun strategy game that can be played for hours at a time or in short bursts using the suspension feature.

As I've downloaded and played all 3 of these, I'll say this:

StarTropics is very fun and comical, but it's pretty dang hard. The first two chapters aren't too bad, but the later levels are very harsh. Anyway, it's a really fun game that I highly recommend you get, but don't expect to finish it.

Neutopia starts off slow, but some later levels are really awesome. The music is average, and some of the enemies are unoriginal, but it can be fun despite its difficulty. If you've played the original Zelda or ALttP before, you can expect to see a lot of influence coming from those games. Its pretty fun, and will last you quite awhile if you take the time to beat it.

Blaster Master is only for those who crave it because of nostalgia or because they absolutely can't get enough of retro games, no matter how cheap it is to the player. Seriously. If you don't qualify as one of those types of gamers, don't buy it. I downloaded it and hated it, simply because there are quite a few glitches and you only get 3 lives to beat a level. And even if you beat a level and use up a certain number of continues after you use up your lives, you still have to restart at the beginning. Of the freakin game. And being ahead of its time does not save it from aging terribly.

So, there you have it. If you want to have the most fun, buy StarTropics, as you'll probably have the most fun on that. And it has the best music score of the three. If you want an adventure game that's both beatable and fun, get Neutopia. I cannot say that I recommend Blaster Master at all because I simply hated it. But the choice is yours, man.

+1 Neutopia
Fairly easy, very familiar if you've played Zelda games. It's pretty much a blatant ripoff but if you can't get enough Zelda, it's def. a good use of your points.
-1 StarTropics
This is one of the only games I felt was unfair. The controls are awkward, the bosses are ridiculous, and some puzzles require multiple deaths as you memorize a little bit more of the room each time. And some times when you enter a room they dump you into a pool of instant-death acid. Thanks.
+0 Blaster Master
This game is hard. I don't recall anything particularly unfair about this game (except the fact that it sends you back to the beginning of the game when you run out of continues).
Only get it if you love hard games.

That's a tough one, man.

I'd probably recommend Blaster Master the most outta the 3. It's a great game with pitch-perfect controls, amazing music, and some sweet levels and boss-fights. It is true that you only have 5 continues to beat the game, but the game itself isn't very long anyways, and there are extra lives you can pick up if you look in the right places. Not to mention enemies drop health items rather frequently. It's not a game you'll breeze through, but it's certainly not one that'll cause you much of a problem, so long as you keep a good head on your shoulders.

Oh, and despite what Qwikman says, there is absolutely nothing cheap about the game. If you die, it will be your fault, and all you gotta do is make sure you do things right the second time around.

Again, Neutopia is a great game if you're a fan of Old-school Zeldas, but it is a clone through and through. Don't expect it to be much more than that.

StarTropics is a game that'll try your patience, but it is a very fun and rewarding game if you can put up with it. It is a very hard game, but much of that is due to "cheap stunts", so it really just requires a sharp eye and a good memory to get through it(and some good jumping skills, especially for the boss fights).

In my mind you can't go wrong with either of these 3. I still think Blaster Master is fun and has aged just fine. If this were me I would get StarTropics. I really don't think it's that hard of a game until you get near the end of the game. At that point a game should really stop holding your hand anyway, but it's still great fun.

Boogerman: should I go for it? I want a 2D platformer but don't want the usual Sonic/DK/Bonk stuff. Worth the 800 points?

@Roo: New Adventure Island. If you don't have it, get it. Now. One of the best platformers I've ever played. Here's Corbie's review if you're not convinced.

I can't compare the two, since I've never played Phantasy Star 4, nor do I ever intend on doing so, but I will speak on Breath of Fire 2's behalf. It's a good game with an interesting story and charming characters. The battle system is a tad simplistic, but it shows its true strength during boss fights. My only really complaint with it is that, while it's a solid game, it doesn't do a whole lot to make it stand out. In fact, outside of the mini-games and other actions that each character can do in the overworld, it's not a very original game from a design standpoint. Still, if you're a fan of story-driven JRPGs, I'd say Breath of Fire II is the best VC has at the moment.

Phantasy Star 4 is one of the greatest English-language RPGs of it's time, and Breath of Fire 2 is one of the worst. Do the math.

And why do you think such things? You can't just make a vague statement like that and expect to be taken seriously, bro. You need to back your opinion up with facts, especially when making a recommendation to someone. What you think makes it horrible may be what other see as the makings of a great game.
