Has anyone used one of these adaptors? They seem a good solution to the joystick problem while maintaining functionality? Do they work well in the likes of Super Mario 64 or Goldeneye were sensitivity is important along with range of movement?

Why choose from a range of great characters like Wario, Waluigi or Baby Luigi, when you have all green jelly Luigi and Toadette. Why have regular Toad and Toadette or another character when you can have a blue or yellow dressed Toad? 😵

Yes, they are great! Sensitive on the joystick, just like the N64. But does have a whole different feel of course, because the stick itself is different. Feels pretty great though to use a new Gamecube controller (Smash one) with a 100% smooth feeling joystick. Have only tried Mario Kart 64 'till now to test the sensitivity, since that had most of my worries as well. Will test Goldeneye with it soon enough. Also: no lag at all!

It is pretty expensive though including shipping, had to pay about 30 euro to get one here to Europe from Canada. But it is quality what you pay for, hope it will last a long time though. The legendary Japanese Hori Pads for the N64 were just too expensive for me @ 65 euro minimum, and this way I can just use my Wavebird(s) that I have lying here.

Only downside is no rumble, while it is supported on the GCN > USB adapter, a power issue I believe. I don't really miss it though, oh and yeah switching up controllers with a ControllerPak for some 3rd party N64 games to be able to save is a bit of a annoyance.

@Megal0maniac interesting! Thanks for your reply. Please let me know your experience with goldeneye, especially quickly aiming and crosshair aiming please 😊 tempting set up!

Ok, I will test Goldeneye and some SM64 tonight . Don't think you have to be worried though, I read all the experiences I could find before buying it and they were all extremely positive on the translated feel and sensitivity of the joystick.

I also have to try out the switching control scheme translation from N64 to Gamecube controller by a specific button press combo, for example to change what buttons on GC are used for the yellow N64 buttons (defaults are r-stick on GC). I think the Zelda's and a few others can have a better experience that way.

Awesome I appreciate that thank you yeah a wind waker style set up would be cooler than the C stick

Sorry for responding this late, but the experience in Goldeneye was ok. It did have a learning curve, since it is just another way of controlling. I don't know, it didn't click right away, so it will probably take some time getting used to. SM64 controls beautifully right away though!

A friend of mine had a bad experience with the official seller raphnet on ebay though, since he doesn't seem to reply at all to missing international packages or other questions that either take a week to respond or doesn't get a response at all. This was after several weeks had passed and the possibility to make an official claim on Paypal unfortunately did pass in the mean time. Don't know what to make of that.. just be warned I guess. Maybe you can try and get one second hand or just take the risk.

Thanks for that mate. That's helpful. I might have a go at ordering one. Imagine N64 controllers in another 10 or 20 years?

Yeah, that would be a nightmare. I hope the adapters are build to last. The gamecube poke will live on for another 10 years

Yeah damn right I'm hoping they make new retro controllers or at least an N64 mini. My favourite console 😬

Looks nice, but just a tad expensive at $125 per stick

Steel doesn't sound comfortable? My ideal solution would be the nunchuck stick but an official controller with it as standard. I'm not keen on losing the calibration.

@timson72 have you used Steel sticks? Any good? The thing that worries me is the range of movement and not a 8 way directional?
