@ThanosReXXX Yeah, though I think it's probably a Japan thing. Sony is actually similar to Nintendo. I get an email from them that I added funds to my wallet, and then it deducts the funds. They do remove the "how much do you want to add" button, so that functionally it feels more like MS's method, but they don't hide that you're adding to a wallet first either

@ThanosReXXX You can pay the actual price of the game. That's what I did last night with Axiom Verge, so I'm certain of it. It's the first option you get when you're asked to select an amount you want to transfer to your account. When you click on PayPal, it takes you to the next screen and you select ''Benodigd bedrag'' (can't change the language on the eShop I'm afraid).

@Octane Ah, okay. Must have overlooked that option, then. First time user, and all that. The last time I used Nintendo eShop credit, was with ACTUAL points cards, on the Wii, so yeah... digital Nintendo credit newbie here...

@ThanosReXXX Yeah, I remember resorting to shady sites to get eShop credit for the Wii and Wii U; well, they weren't that shady, but paying €20 for a code always felt a bit weird.

@Octane I just bought them in game stores or any other store that sold them. Not codes, but physical cards, seeing as price-wise, it really didn't matter where you bought them.

I do have to add an edit to the previous comment, though: the last time I used the eShop was actually on the Wii U, when I bought the bundle of extra tracks for Mario Kart 8. But then again: that's also two years ago, and if my memory serves me well, that was also easier/faster than now.

Oh, well. I finally managed to get Golf Story, so that's downloading now.

P.S.

As you could have guessed, I have no issues with Dutch, as long as it stays in the eShop, and doesn't defile my games, so my system language setting is English...

@ThanosReXXX Physical cards use codes, right? There are sites that sell you the codes. It saves you the hassle of going to a store to buy a card for an online transaction.

Golf Story is a pretty neat game, but it lacks a ''retry'' button, meaning that when you screw up a challenge (finish nine holes in eighteen shots for example), you either have to reset the system, or play it all out knowing you won't win anyway.

@Octane Yeah, I know it's all just codes, but for that handful of times, that I used them, I just decided to buy some cards. And the shop is practically around the corner, so not that much of a hassle, really.
I do buy all my Xbox related stuff digitally, simply because I've used that more often, and contrary to Nintendo's offerings where points and so on are concerned, Microsoft codes can be bought much cheaper online, so I'd be pretty dense to continue to buy straight from the source...

I'll keep that in mind, about the game. Sounds like it offers up a real challenge, then.
I bought it, because it really reminded me of Mario Golf, in a good way, and most reviews, if not all, are positive.
I never base my purchases on any single review, but if there's so much positivity surrounding it, and the genre appeals to you, then it's probably one of those must-haves. Guess I'll find out soon enough...

Final Fantaxy XV is 83.2 GB (not counting the DLC) and the Comrades expansion is just 7.9 GB. If I install Comrades separately is 30.47 GB. Hmmm... my question is, if I don't install Comrades separately am I missing anything? The difference is 22.57 GB!

@BlueOcean

I don't think you actually have the choice now. As far as I'm aware, the separate Comrades version is tied up with the final update. Meaning that if you stick with the old 7.9GB version, you don't get all of the extra stuff they added in the latest update.
And I think that update also contains the new stuff for the main game. Like the FFXIV sidequest mission. Which you definitely want to do cos it's apparently quite good.

@Dezzy So do I download the separate file and also keep the expansion then?

Banjo-

Dezzy

@BlueOcean

I think installing the update will delete the original expansion.

Banjo-

@Dezzy It's not an update, it's a separate file. I will download it and let you know what happens.

Banjo-

Dezzy

@BlueOcean

Yes but the separate file was released at the same time as an update for the main game. They both came out on the 13th of December.
I think the update will either delete or just disable the original version.

The separate Comrades file is installed and the expansion Comrades wasn't deleted by the system. I don't want to delete the expansion without knowing what I am doing though.

Banjo-

Banjo-

@Dezzy Yes it's up to date. Perhaps I should try to launch the expansion on the main game and see what happens.

EDIT: I can launch the expansion, it says that Comrades is available separately but it loads fine and I hadn't even started Comrades yet. It lets me start a new game. I wonder if the separate file is bigger because it can not reuse the assets from the FF XV file or because it has more content. The difference is huge, 22.57 GB.

@BlueOcean

Yeah it's bigger because the original DLC version is reusing assets from the main game. A lot of characters and enemies are the same as in the main game and a lot of the 3D scenery is the same, but with new textures to match the new setting.
The additional stuff they added in the final update will be under 3GB for sure.

Official response regarding Final Fantasy XV Comrades received. Unfortunately, it doesn't explain what the exact differences are. Actually, it says it's "the same" but it recommends downloading the separate file and erasing the expansion because the separate file is what "everyone will be using now".

Dear .......,

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

The standalone version of comrades is effectively the same as the version that is was previously built into Final Fantasy XV, however it is the version that must be used now. It was made for users who did not have the full version of Final Fantasy XV, but still wished to play Comrades.

Keeping the expansion would not be required now, as the standalone version is the version that everyone will be using now.

Kind regards,
.........

My understanding is what I suspected initially, that they are the same but the separate file has the assets separately and thus it's much bigger... So still I don't see the point in keeping the separate file which is 22.57 GB bigger if you have FF XV and the expansion.

I think the final update is still exclusive to the bigger version though?
