@BrainOfGrimlock Aha, well no worries, I was just wondering. As for your internet troubles: that does indeed sound horribly bad. If you live in that area, you'd expect either glass fiber or at least high quality DSL/ADSL lines pretty much everywhere. Going by your previous comments concerning the internet issues, I was beginning to think you were living somewhere in the outback, or on the outer skirts of a smaller city/town.

And yes, I do live in the Netherlands, in Amsterdam. Moved there from California when I was 9, and I'm 48 now... (don't know about @Octane, though. Can't remember him mentioning it)

Funny to read that you also lived here for a while, but even though it's a small country, we could (and have) still quite easily have missed each other. Had we both been online on here back then, we might have met up and shared a beer or two, or whatever else is your poison...

Kingdoms of Amalur and FF13-2 were pretty much the only backcompat games I was still waiting for.

Can't think of anything interesting they still need to release...

@ThanosReXXX laughing at our internet has become something of a national pastime now here - it’s a government project to upgrade the infrastructure but it’s become a political stick for the parties to beat each other with. It’s now taken more than double the originally planned time and budget and is far from finished - add in the fact the project is being facilitated by people like this and you can quickly see why it’s the national laughing stock and why Aussie gamers are terrified of anything related to ‘streaming’!

Having been there that long do you consider yourself Dutch or American still? I think it was Octane anyway, he was helping someone around black friday and linked to a dutch sales page (nope, it wasn’t Tweakers!)

There’s a few too many poison’s over there! All the delicious Dutch/Belgian/German beers and - much to the chagrin of my friends there who took it (jokingly) as an insult - I still always plumped for a Kronenbourg given the chance! Afraid I wasn’t so good on the local delicacy, went to a little/famous-ish place called ‘Dolphin’ to sample a muffin when I first visited the ‘dam and it took me days to sleep it off!

It’s a cool place & I really enjoyed my time there. I was in Apeldoorn for the majority so a fair bit quieter than Amsterdam, but there’s (or was) a cracking sports bar in the centre run by an Aussie - weirdly I ended up working with his friend when I came over to Sydney so shows how small the world truly is!

Sure none of you need a recommendation from me, but my absolute favourite place over there was a rib/steakhouse in Utrecht (called Broadway) - may have changed owners/chef several times since I’ve left but I loved it and my dutch friends I introduced to it still go there and send me photos! Some of the best ribs i’ve ever eaten and worth the trip. Unless you’re vegetarian of course!

Aaanyway, sorry for hijacking folks - xbox yeah? Apparently Kingdoms of Amalur is about to be added to BC if you missed it first time around. It’s a weird game if you haven’t played it, feels like an RPG designed by committee/checkboxes...

It has everything a good rpg needs, just none of it ever really excels enough to properly grab you. Combat system is fun (i loved the chakrams!) and there’s nothing too bad, just also nothing particularly memorable? I reckon a sequel could have fixed a lot of the issues but I remember there being budget issues etc when made (seem to recall the head guy was super arrogant about it going to blow Skyrim away etc?) - the rights changed hands recently I read so maybe this is the first step to assess the feasibility of a second game?

EDIT: It takes me so long to reply on a phone that Dezzy beat me to the KoA news too!

Ah yes, Sonic Unleashed. Eggmanland on 360/PS3 is way too long, one of the advantages of the Wii not being powerful was it being split into stages.

Isn't Unleashed on the 360 just a worse version of Generations?

Ooooo I just found Fable Anniversary for a good price too. That's almost impossible to find cheap. Having a right backcompat month right now. FF13-2, Amalur and Fable Anniversary.

Xbox One X 'performing phenomenally' says NPD

"Xbox One sales show the highest growth of the three major hardware platforms in the U.S. this year, and the Xbox One X in particular has been performing phenomenally... year-over-year growth like this at this point in the cycle has never been seen before, driven by launch of the Xbox One X and new content delivery efforts. It's a mid-generation turnaround the market's never seen before. This qualifies as phenomenal, even if not market leading".

Xbox One X is the console where I have tons of retro and new games, but most of them were really good deals and it has become a gaming paradise with Rare Replay (I always mention this one but it's because I bought my first Xbox console, the original Xbox One, because of it), backwards compatibility (huge library), Games With Gold ("free" games), Game Pass (generous subscription) and the latest X-enhanced games without the hassle that PC Master Race entails as @NEStalgia explained so well some pages ago...

@ReaderRagfish ...and that means that I played my last Wii game this year (Xenoblade Chronicles) and still playing Wii U games (Xenoblade Chronicles X).

Banjo-

Zuljaras

@BlueOcean I want to have One X so badly but the cost is high IF they will release a new console 2019.

In my country the one X is around 523 USD. If they are going to release Xbox Scarlet I would love to keep my money on that.

Banjo-

@Zuljaras It is expected for 2020 so you can wait until E3 2019 to see if it's announced. I assume that if they release it in 2020 we will know about it next year.

@BlueOcean Does One X have hardware revisions like the PS4 Pro? I mean like versions CUH-7200 etc.

I know the One X is almost silent but are there models revisions that are better than the launch X consoles?

I would like to know as much as possible before making such decision.

Banjo-

@Zuljaras There aren't hardware revisions like with the Pro but each Xbox One X unit is individually calibrated (Hovis method).

There are a few Xbox One X owners that have reported fan noise but most of them, including my launch Xbox One X, are nearly silent, people here can confirm you that. Noisy consoles are probably faulty units. The limited Scorpio model and the standard model are exactly the same inside.

No intense heat is expelled from the console. The X is the only console that has vapour chamber heat sink so it doesn't require a noisy fan like the Pro and it doesn't get as hot either. It is the best engineered console ever because it was wisely optimised and customised, including built-in mathematical operations in the CPU.

I really recommend you this:

https://www.eurogamer.net/amp/digitalfoundry-2017-project-sco...

It's an article and video made by Richard Leadbetter who was invited to check the console in Microsoft's headquarters and while he loves technology his writing is simple to understand. You will learn a lot just by reading that. Really recommended even for people not interested in X, you learn a lot about console engineering.

Banjo-

Zuljaras

@BlueOcean That is nice! Thanks! I want to have the holy trinity of the console gaming. I have the Switch for Nintendo and handheld goodness, PS4 Pro for the BEST exclusives and I want One X for almost everything else.

@Dezzy Can't think of any other game to add to the BC list, from a catalog of around a 1000 (if not more) Xbox 360 games, and nearly as much OG Xbox games? That's some specific taste you've got there, my friend...

@BrainOfGrimlock I mostly consider myself to be an "Amsterdammer", and if I go by @Octane's logic, that means I'm not actually Dutch, because Amsterdam is a separate entity within this country...

But in all seriousness: I do have a Dutch passport, so legally I am Dutch nowadays, but I don't feel as if
I am, and your roots never disappear, so there's that. Unless of course we're talking about parents or grandparents, but in this case, it concerns me, so fully Californian, with a hint of German (ancient forefathers) and fully "Europeanized" by living in the happy and free Netherlands, which (for the most part), is pro-American but anti-Trump...

On a side note: funny that you know Tweakers, although if you've stayed here long enough, you'd probably come across it at some point, seeing as it is the largest tech site of the Benelux...

As for the on-topic stuff: don't agree with you on Kingdoms of Amalur: it's one of my all-time favorites, and
I really liked the story and the game as a whole. Never did finish it, though...

P.S.

Wouldn't be caught dead in Utrecht, since I do very much feel tied to the city I live in. And most people over there don't like Amsterdammers, so I'd actually be risking my skin going out there. (got a full-blown Amsterdam accent, with not even the slightest hint of American English. Comes with the territory of having lived here for so long)

As for there being too many poisons over here: in my experience, they can be found all over the world. Perhaps not so readily available, but still. Might be that it looks more overwhelming here, because of the relative large amount for such a small country, but I can find the same things in the States, and probably also in Australia, although I must admit I've never been to your country. Would like to, except the 27 hour long flight, and the cost of it, is kind of holding me back...

Anyway, hope your internet is going to be fixed anytime soon now. And once it is, I'd call the internet provider for a refund, for the number of days that you were offline. If they don't comply, threaten to take your business to another provider, unless there isn't any other in your area, but I assume there will be.
That Morrow guy is an idiot, though. Don't know in what bubble he's living, or what he's on, but it sure as heck isn't a reality check, something he desperately needs...

So, @Octane, how'd you figure that Amsterdam isn't Dutch? Because of all the various nationalities walking around and living here?
Weird that I forgot that you've also been here. It isn't all that common among people on here, so usually, I'll remember it if someone mentions it in some comment. Oh, well...

Just here again to once again express my amazement at how simple Game Pass and BC are. Never played Fallout but I can start with the third one now if I want.

Welp, Microsoft said that since I didn't send the images (which I did), they closed the report.

Here we go again.

Well, opened a new one, the guy seemed to understand the situation.

This time I sent even more images and waited for the guy to confirm they have the images before letting him go.

If they mess again, or somehow refuse to replace the code, I'll have to tell Amazon so they can compensate me themselves.
