@ThanosReXXX Acronyms abuse is bad, it reminds me of MK, are you talking about Mario Kart or Mortal Kombat (both very popular in the 90s)? I started playing Wolfenstein The New Order. It has 60 fps and dynamic resolution scaling up to 1080p. On Xbox One X seems to be running at 1080p all the time which is great, so even though some games are not X-enhanced, they run and look better on Xbox One X and future Xbox consoles.
EDIT: @Yosheel Is that the white Xbox One S or the Minecraft Limited Edition console?
@BlueOcean Haha, Hey, imagine the textwalling if I didn't use acronyms
ATB = Active Time Battle (the actual name for the battle system used in FFVII, FFVIII FFXII, FFXIII, WoFF. I mean it's actually called ATB in the game, you have and ATB gauge and everything. I just made up RTB though - Real Time Battle, for Lightening Returns (LR), since it's more real time than active time.
Well I played most of XIII back in the day, so I wanted to check out what the sequels were like in advance, despite wanting to play XIII to true completion first. I already knew the story from trying to figure out XIII's story (and it still makes no sense even when you read it, so I'm good ) Just playing the first hour or so of each to get a feel for them. When I actually play, I'll go in order.
Deus Ex: I'm biased. I love the series. Always have. The Warren Spector PC original is a bonified classic. Gameplay doesn't hold up but it's classic. I half-way love Invisible War. It was badly hampered by constraining it to fit on the OG XBox, and really should have been PC exclusive at that time. It wasn't an amazing game but somehow I can't hate it. Still, it's the DX nobody talks about for a reason. I'm REALLY disappointed the series is on "indefinite hiatus."
Human Revolution was a really solid reboot/prequel, and a classic all its own. It has two problems: Ugly graphics smeared with a too-heavy gold filter, and fudged up boss battles for Stealth characters because they outsourced those, and instead of patching all this for free, Squeenix re-sold the game as a new edition.
Mankind Divided doesn't live up to Human Revolution. It's a great game, and improves stealth mechanics, but the pacing, story, and flow is kind of "middle of trilogy" syndrome, with the conclusion on hiatus. I'd still recommend it though, especially for a few bucks. I mean it's not Invisible War....that would be a questionable recommendation The one caveat as an X owner is: It and Mass Effect: Andromeda are I think the only two games where PS4 Pro is the "best place to play" - It released in the year after the Pro, before the X, and flopped in sales, so they made a Pro patch but never made an X patch. As a result the game runs at 900p meant for the OG XBox One, but runs in checkerboard 4k with higher res textures on Pro. Both versions look fairly decent though, but my next playthrough will probably be on Pro for that reason (with a Brook adapter to use my Elite! )
Director's Cut: It actually is BC, but physical only, no digital purchase. If you haven't played it and don't mind physical, I'd strongly recommend you buy it anyway, used. Also, you have a WiiU, and Director's Cut was originally meant as a WiiU exclusive (that makes heavy use of the GamePad, so that might be an option too.)
If you still want it on XBox, though, the standard edition is BC digitally, and it's on sale for only a few bucks.
Story-wise the order is: Mankind Divided, Human Revolution, ??? (Unmade sequel), Original Deus Ex (PC only, very dated design, amazing in its day), DX Invisible War (The finale. I never asked for that. No one did.)
If you've never played it, if you like western RPGs, and/or stealth-action games, I definitely recommend either buying both for dirt cheap on the sale (even Deluxe with DLC is peanuts), or buy MD, and grab HR physically or for WiiU.
I still have the WiiU version but I'm not inclined to connect the WiiU again for now. Plus I do have my save files from years ago still in tact for standard edition, so that's incentive to continue with the standard one.
It's too good a game to let the graphics and broken boss battles prevent you from playing at all! But physically, you can get the "better" version both on X1 and WiiU if it doesn't need to be digital (I own the base game physically on 360, Director's Cut on WiiU....so I was really aiming for digital now, regardless of the version.)
@BlueOcean I know, but both me and Yosheel have the Xbox One S, so that's why I was wondering why Crackdown is only labeled as Xbox One X-enhanced, while performance does also seem to be smoother on the S, except there's little to no graphical difference, far as I myself can tell, switching back and forth between the two consoles.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@Yosheel I got the white one as well. Forza Horizon 3 + Hot Wheels expansion 1TB bundle.
And trust me, it may be a bit of a bummer now, for a while, but seeing as you're not supposed to stare at the console all the time while playing, you won't notice anymore sooner than you might think. But that controller was cool, though...

@Yosheel Well, I don't know which review told you that, but my Xbox One S is a hell of a lot quieter than my Xbox 360. Sometimes I'm almost tempted to put my ear to it, to check if it's actually doing something, but then again: I'm no tech nerd with native American tracking tendencies, like @NEStalgia...

@NEStalgia Good to know that you will play Final Fantasy XIII trilogy in order. It was nice reading your first impressions, anyway. The DS version of Final Fantasy IV has something similar to Active Time Battle, I think, am I right? Not sure about the SNES version. I didn't like the demo of World of Final Fantasy on PS4 much but seeing as the Xbox One version is the definitive edition by default and the demo is too short to really know, would you recommend the game? Not a huge fan of anything chibi.
Great explanation about Hitman, what about The Fall and Go? If Human Revolution Director's Cut is on Wii U then I should check that! I don't have any 360 physical game but I have both physical and digital games on Wii U and the console is connected to the TV for retro and modern Nintendo gaming pleasures.
I have been ignoring this series forever it seems. Funnily, the Brook adapter I bought was for using PS4 controllers on Xbox One, specifically the Mad Catz SFV fighting stick, I would never use a DualShock controller on purpose. I didn't know that there are universal adapters at that time but now I'm not sure if they are flawless either. The only games that make me keep my PS4 now are Kingdom Hearts and Wipeout, but once I beat the KH games I will probably be interested in the theatre mode only. I loved Birth by Sleep but I played it almost 100% with the three characters. That was more than enough and I don't feel like replaying the others either. I still have to play Dream Drop Distance and KHII.
@NEStalgia Are you saying that the white Xbox One S is noisy? Cross the ocean and I'll show you my launch PS4 that sounds like a hairdryer. But yes, we all know how much you love to put your ear near the fans. I think this what ThanosReXXX means my OCD. I did it on my Xbox One X out of curiosity because I couldn't believe how quiet it is.
@Yosheel Good, the white S is nice too. What review?
Black Friday is coming up and we're eyeing a new 4k TV and an Xbox One X. I think Microsoft lowered the official MSRP by $100 for the next few weeks? Thought I had a good deal with Best Buy cuz they're offering a $100 gift card with the purchase of a TV and One X together, but the price of the X for this offer is still listed as $500, so I wouldn't really be getting a better deal than if I just bought them separately anyway.
@Yosheel on a side note: not my thing, those silicon gloves for consoles, but as long as you yourself are happy with it, that's most important. But if you're using it for some extra grip, well...
Never had an issue with not being able to hold on to the controller or anything, so I personally wouldn't need any extra grip.
I also wouldn't use these extra thumb stick caps. The sticks are concave, so your thumb is almost naturally locked into them, and won't slip, unless you're making some weird, erratic movements.
From what I can see from the picture, those caps would make the tops of the sticks convex/rounded again.
I just like to have them. They add color and some texture. The thumbstick covers should sink into the concave shape just fine, as far as I know, it's just floppy plastic.
The review I mentioned was a random amazon review that said the xbox one s was extremely loud. Nothing to worry much about, just found it funny.
@PikPi With the Black Friday sales, you should not have to pay 500 bucks for an Xbox One X:
Oh, and be sure to get the best screen for it, to get the most out of the experience. Best panel, best option package, and lowest response time to minimize and/or prevent controller input lag.
@PikPi Yes, the $100 (or equivalent currency) off on all Xbox One S and Xbox One X consoles is official, a cut made by Microsoft that affects retail price. So grab yours before the 26th when the offer officially ends.
Microsoft will release two more Xbox One models next year, the Xbox One XS, that will be similar but cheaper and simpler than the Xbox One S and an even cheaper disc-less Xbox One console designed for digital games only.
