@NEStalgia Xbox is not down, it's a sign-in issue for some people. I can sign in and play online since yesterday. FIFA is working fine too. I will let you know how much I like Assassin's Creed II as it's the next one that I'll play. I am having issues playing with manual transmission in FH3 and 4 even with the Elite controller so I went back to automatic. I haven't found any good explanation about how to drift yet, like step by step, because there is something that I am doing wrong and I don't know what it is.

@FragRed Don't worry, @NEStalgia is pulling out the drama over absolutely everything. He just said that his digital collection might be in danger and that Xbox servers have been down for over 24 hours. A sign-in issue turns into all servers being wiped out in his words. General rule: take with a ton of salt everything that he says. Every possible issue that has ever been registered happens to him defying every statistics rule. He should play the lottery, perhaps his implausible luck works both ways.

It's your chance to bring them down again!

That's exactly what @NEStalgia would do if he could.

@BlueOcean IIRC these server issues seem NA specific. You may not experience it across the pond. FragRed and DarkRula couldn't sign in. DarthNoctural could for some reason. I probably couldn't, but I didn't try, knowing there was an issue and solution posted for having to remove and re-add your account if you get an error message, I figured it's best to wait for it to be working normally so I don't break anything through impatience.

Yeah, manual on a controller....there's just not enough buttons to work it well. Elite makes it less awkward but doesn't change that there's too few buttons. It seems like a feature best left for racing wheels & pedals.

I'd definitely turn off all the stability/abs/etc DarkRula mentioned. I mean I score "epic drifts" all the time even when I'm not trying. Or at least not consciously trying. I'm not the most consistent at it by far, as I'll lose control and go off course much more often than I'd like, but starting the drift shouldn't be too difficult. It's not MK8, but it's not too hard. The faster, the easier, but there's a sweet spot to not lose control - too fast and you go flying. Thanos's explanation is probably better than mine (he uses ABS and stability on, like you, though.) For me with all those off, I generally just accelerate, turn hard, tap the brakes lightly and then keep accelerating. No ebrake (those are for hairpins for me).

LOL, well if the sign-in servers are down.....you're kinda not going to be able to hit the other servers? The store/download/licensing server was also down part of that time as well, but if you can't sign-in it really didn't matter much. (Yeah if you're playing physical it might not matter. If you're playing digital, it's kind of a problem.) "This game can not be played on this account. Would you like to view it in the Microsoft Store?" E.T. can't phone home.

I won't deny my awful luck though It's true Sadly, the lottery thing doesn't work.

I tried what @ThanosReXXX and @Darkrula said. I have turned ABS, traction control and stability control off. I can't deal with manual transmission unless it's a real car or at least a real wheel and pedals. I also tried braking with the trigger as @NEStalgia does but it doesn't seem to work. Of course I can drift with the handbrake but it's random and I can't control it.

So this is what I am trying now:

1. Go high speed.
2. Tap the handbrake and release the gas.
3. Steer right (on a right bend) and push the gas.
4. Steer left to not drift out and keep pushing the gas

Is it like that guys?

DarkRula

At last! Now I can switch the X to my 'home' console. And play some more Horizon 4. Though there is Assassin's Creed...

@BlueOcean That Subaru WRX I mentioned for the drift tap challenge is a great one to use for all drift zones. When you get into a slide, you need to manage where the wheels are pointing at all times, turning in the opposite direction to the turn to extend the slide when needed and pointing them back into the turn to keep the drift going. You don't also want to be pushing the accelerator at all times. Just as the wheels need to be managed, so does the power and braking.

On occasion, there can be times where you'll end up in an understeer drift - where you'll hug the inside line of a turn while still accruing points - but on the times I've pulled them off I've had no idea how I'd done so.

@BlueOcean Yeah, something like that. Don't release the gas, though, if you're using the emergency brake. The sequence is almost instantaneous, much like with the other method: so, tap the emergency brake for a second, then steer into the bend, and once you're leaving the perfect line or middle, steer against to compensate and stay on the road and in the drift.

Another thing to remember, for both methods, and something that even some people used to analog controls tend to forget in the heat of the moment, is that the speed and the brakes can be varied/dosed, so you don't need to keep the throttle all the way down all the time. Only once you need to start the drift, so when you drive up to the bend, it's full throttle, during the tap brake sequence, it's either release the gas or temper the gas, and only once out of the bend again, it's full throttle. You just need to practice and play with that a little, to both find the most useful method for you and for the game/the achievement.

On a side note: I'm sorry to say that this Kalamari desert moment still doesn't make much sense to me, especially if it is supposed to be tied to train crossings. Is it a game or movie quote, or a British thing? Not meant to offend, but I simply don't get it.

@NEStalgia Smashcember? That must a new low in cheesiness...

@Grumblevolcano Damn, I feel really stupid now. Being in an Xbox thread must have locked down the Nintendo-part of my brain...

@BlueOcean My own feeling with the ebrake is that it's not ideal for drifting, ever. I know there's a way to do it, but I've never found the ebrake useful for doing much of anything but really hard pivots for hairpins and <= 90 degree turns. Of course that's with traction/stability off and steering on simulator. All drifting I do is purely the normal brakes and letting off the gas. @thanosrexxx mentioned a good point, too, I tend to feather the throttle quite a bit.

@thanosrexxx no cheesier than THQ's remaster names. "Re-Marstered" indeed

ThanosReXXX

@NEStalgia Yeah, they've completely Warmastered that skill...

Okay, so I’ve just played about only about an hour of RDR2 and I can see these controls are going to start to annoy me. Hold left trigger to talk to Dutch, which is bizarrely the same as when you want to aim to an enemy to shoot which resulted in me not talking to him but holding me gun to him. And the shooting isn’t even that great to begin with. I’ve heard about this a lot online but now I have started to experience the game first hand, I can certainly see why there’s voices of complaints. I am curious as to what other problems I’m gonna run into.

It’ll be interesting to see if Rockstar address these kinds of issues, assuming they can or actually care.

@NEStalgia @ThanosReXXX speaking of those they got patches for the X not sure if you guys heard!

Been playing AC Odyssey all day, what a game. Enjoying it much more than RDR2. Not quite up there with GOW for me but Ubisoft has really come a long way since the last AC I played (Black Flag)

redd214

ThanosReXXX

@redd214 Thanks for the info, but that would only be useful for @NEStalgia, seeing as I only have an Xbox One S...

And besides, if there are 4K updates for any game he owns, he probably already knows about it...
As for me, I'm currently quite content with not having an X yet, seeing as this month's free download Battlefield 1 is already a whopping 74GB, even without 4K texture pack. And I'm certainly in no rush to fill up my newly acquired 4TB external hard drive with all that extra space-hogging content.

I could imagine that with the number of games that I already have on my Xbox One S now, the necessary amount of storage space would be almost double of what it currently is, due to the amount of games that
I have that come with 4K texture packs...

You tagged just us two, and directed the message at us as well, so naturally, I responded in the way that I did.
No offense meant, though.

@DarthNocturnal So, half of what I downloaded is multiplayer maps that I'll probably never use?
