@NEStalgia Could have been region-based, of course, so let's just assume it is, and be done with it.
To be honest, I don't even know what changed, so for all I know, it's only background operation and other stuff that has changed/improved.

If it was a Nintendo update, it would probably just have been more stability...

NEStalgia

@ThanosReXXX If "stability" is a euphemism for "no longer hammers your HDD spindle motor 1000+ times a day" I'm all for stability

@NEStalgia Ha, in Nintendo's case, it's probably just code for "anti-piracy measures"...

Interesting, so I was watching my HDD last night and it seems at least temporarily after the latest system update, the behavior has changed again. Favorably (more or less) but could be even worse later if it flares up again. For the moment, it looks like it is not spinning up the drive (only if using the official Game Hub) when it activates but has returned to that "safe neutral" of just turning he light and the controller on without actuating the motors. But on the flip side it now turns on for 30 seconds, off for 40 seconds non-stop. If that turns into HDD actuations again sometime that will be 2500+ power-ons a day, easily eating an HDD a month. So for now it's better than it was last week, but with the potential to be catastrophic if it flares up again (and it periodically seems to...)

It's actually really SAD this problem could even exist....let alone persist. It's freaking Windows. Haven't they had USB power management working since the 90s?!

@ReaderRagfish Which list is shorter: game types you'd like, or ones that you wouldn't like?
Seeing as I've got about 300+ games lying around here, plus probably another 100 digital, I might be able to recommend you a title or two...

Anyone in the Microsoft loop able to tell me what most people think the new Xbox will be called? At this point my money is on Xbox Banana 421. Because they have had no pattern in naming conventions.

Crackdown 1 and 2 has been free for everyone (including silver members, I think) to download for awhile now, and now the DLC for both games is also free, so go and grab it if you haven’t already!

Midnight Club's a pretty good arcade racer. Forza Horizon is a more realistic racer, but still with the same arcade feel. Try the Fable series if you're after a more action/adventure/RPG type game.

And since you have Battlefront 1, I see no reason why you couldn't try to track down Battlefront 2.

@AlohaPizzaJack "Colonial Marines."
ROFL, you sneaky, sneaky devil. Nobody else even noticed.

@Heavyarms55 I still bet on "XBox Y" and a slogan of "XBox Y: Just Y." It fits their otherwise self-destructive naming pattern that makes WiiU look positively marketing-genius caliber.

More serious suggestions might be "XBox Infinite/Infinity" if they really want to push forward with a generation-less hardware-agnostic future of XBox, with generational bleed-over, Windows+console+streaming cross-compatibility, even some Switch compatibility etc. It's a good sounding name, conveys the meaning of such an ecosystem, and would have a solid tie-in to the likely launch mega-title of their flagship series: "Halo: Infinite"

But more likely is XBox Y. Because it fits the unimaginable stupidity of their naming department to date.

(And I noticed after I wrote this @CanisWolfred already mentioned that name! It's gaining traction!)

@ReaderRagfish there's frankly tons of stuff but, though it's cheaper on X1, you can get a lot of the Rare games on the 360 including B&K Nuts & Bolts which is oddly fun. That's a must for a Nintendo fan. Sonic Generations (ABSOLUTELY PLAY THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T!!!). Sonic Unleashed.. (snicker)
