I got it, I haven't played much but I haven't notices issues with the frame rate on Xbox One X. I wonder if they have been fixed. The soundtrack is great, the visuals are nice, controls and physics are quite deep.

I understand, his videos aren't for everyone. I'll take a look at a few of the YouTubers you mentioned. Based on who you mentioned, I think you'd also like the videos posted by Zeltik. He does an incredible job analyzing Zelda material. If you're a big Zelda fan, I think you'll really enjoy the in-depth analysis he does of various aspects and mechanics of the games.

I've been thinking about next gen and it came to my attention that Phil Spencer didn't say next gen at E3 2018, he just said "next Xbox consoles". Think it's possible that the 2020 console is just a more powerful Xbox One X?

@Grumblevolcano Interesting thought on the one hand, but on the other hand, I certainly hope not. It might leave too much room for restrictions on the new platform, if it is held back by some unifying factor with previous models.

Then again: Phil also said that backwards compatibility is here to stay, so if they handle it well enough, a console that is basically just an even more powerful upgrade, it could still be worth having, depending on what it can do, and how much of a difference playing games on that new console is going to make, also concerning newer titles, of course.

Does it definitely apply to expired subscriptions? I might go for it if so.

As I mentioned in my post above, it let me use the promotion. I’ve been subscribed before, so yes, it applies to expired subscriptions. I always turn off auto renewal and they almost always let me use these new subscription promotions whenever they happen for either service.

Interesting how it’s much cheaper in my country though.

@ThanosReXXX Microsoft's in kind of a weird situation as a whole because of far how they went with Xbox One X. Namely how to progress without angering Xbox One X owners.

Yes, you guys are right. I am currently subscribed but if it works for you then great. This is the best offer I've ever seen, it used to be one pound/euro/dollar for one month, now it's for three months! I don't play everyday but I have saved money because I haven't bought a few games since they have been included in Game Pass. Even if you don't play a lot, even if you just play a few games, it's still awesome value, probably the best gaming value available anywhere.

As for the next "Xbox consoles" he said so because they are working on more than one, as have been leaked recently. I am an Xbox One X owner and a generational leap wouldn't annoy me at all. On the contrary, I'm happy that Microsoft is making awesome hardware as the X is. It was released in 2017, and it wasn't a new generation to begin with. I don't think that Xbox One X owners are worried about a new and more powerful console coming in a few years.

@Grumblevolcano I'm not an Xbox One X owner myself (got the S), but I wasn't aware that any people that do own them, were angered. I suppose as long as they handle it the right way, and the newer models are fully backwards compatible with everything we have right now, it'll be just fine.

It wasn't. It was four years of working on technologically advancing cloud gaming, then a year of quickly throwing something together when they realised they couldn't get it working as they wanted.

Or something like that.

@Grumblevolcano @ThanosReXXX I feel Xbox is going to go down that path — half step upgrades every 3 years instead of one major one every 6 years. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this how PC works — small incremental upgrades that over the years result in a much more improved product that nevertheless has full backwards compatibility for games released for PCs years prior? I could see it working out fine.

@shadow-wolf Well, while it's true that the PC market in and of itself offers (incremental) updates/upgrades to hardware in a certain time frame, it's not entirely comparable to console gaming, also because of the disparity in PC systems: there's not just low end, mid grade, and high end PC's, there's of course also people building their own custom systems, or companies/stores doing that for them.

That could never work in the console industry, unless they simplify it, but such a system is already in place, with the current entry model S, and the premium model X.

And from all we've heard so far, the same is going to happen with the next iterations. I simply see that already revealed disc drive-less One S as nothing more than a little added flavor in the same recipe for digital-only gamers, but I don't think they're going to go down a road where they, like the PC market, are going to offer a choice of three models every time.

@shadow-wolf Something like that, PC gamers have to buy new GPUs and CPUs every few years. Xbox would be the same but relatively cheaper and hassle-free, with Microsoft earning money with the store and subscriptions. Backwards/forwards compatibility is the best feature of Xbox in my opinion especially considering that it is free and cross-buy (now extended to Windows 10).
