Every month new games will cycle into the subscription with some cycling out, giving you a constantly-updating library of games.
Don't like the sound of that. Not that I would be likely to subscribe anyway, given the lack of exclusive content, but if you can't even rely on a game you want being available...
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
Yeah, that is dumb. Who the heck would pay for that? Granted, Humble Bundle tried something like that, too, but at least that money was (supposedly) going to charity...
@gcunit I don't like it either, it's pretty much a significantly expanded version of the Switch subscription service which I also wouldn't care about if it wasn't required for online multiplayer.
Its a digital version of Gamefly for the Xbox. Its not meant for everyone.
Some people will be happy to pay 10 bucks to have access to all those games for a short time, then move on to something else. Not everyone cares about owning games forever.
People always say ideas are dumb when they don't individually apply to them. I won't use the service at all, but I'm sure some people will enjoy it.
Look at it a different way. We used to pay six bucks for a one week rental. This is basically a rental service with unlimited play time for 10 bucks a month. With access to a hundred or so games.
If there's a month with no releases (common on the Xbox lul), paying 10 bucks to try a lot of different games and possibly beat a few doesn't sound too bad. Its not the worst idea in the world it'll be made out to be on the over-reactionary internet.
@AlexSays Well, I'll concede that it's not for me. I do, however, still think it's dumb. Then again, I also figured Gamefly was dumb, and figured it had died out long ago with the rest of the rental services.
Although it is not for me, given that I don't think I have ever rented a video game before, nor is it likely that I would buy/own an Xbox One, I do think it's a good idea. I can see students in their dorms at college and university making the most out of a Netflix-style rental service for a selection of Xbox games.
@SharkAttackU Thanks for the recs. I've since acquired Sunset Overdrive, and I have Ori on PC, but I'll check out Killer Instinct and Rise & Shine.
I don't have time for 90% of the games that I buy, and that's without buying many RTS games - they just suck time, just learning tends to take a while, so I tend to skip the RTS genre, as much as I know there are some fantastic RTS games out there.
I'll get Gears 4 and Forza later when they're cheap.

Ryse may well be mechanically shallow, but it's a fun and visually impressive romp that doesn't outstay its welcome, and the second season of The Walking Dead is perfect timing, considering the third season - A New Frontier - is out as well as its third episode coming along next week.
Darksiders is very much a Zelda 'lite', and Assassin's Creed Revelations concludes a decent trilogy (with Ezio).
This months GwG slightly makes up for the underwhelming first three months of this year for the Xbox One.
According to a chap on Windows Central, the Scorpio is going to be unveiled next week sometime, rather than at E3. I think this is quite a sensible idea, as E3 is (usually) all about the games. I very much doubt that they'll announce the date and price there and then though.
One part of me is curious to see how much of a difference that an additional 1.8 TFLOPS will look like, compared to the PlayStation 4 Pro, while the other part of me is perplexed as to why it is a big deal when their line-up is both barren and uninspiring so far this year.
One for the fans, I guess.
:EDIT: And the rumoured name is 'Xbox One X', which kind of goes along quite well with 'Xbox One S', even though I personally believe that plonking a random capital letter at the end of a product name a little bit dull.
@Octane Outside of Xbox fans, I just don't know what Microsoft can do to make people sit up and take notice.
It's going to be expensive; €499/$499 or more.
Besides sailing the high seas in Sea of Thieves, there isn't anything genuinely new to look forward to.
All of the Microsoft Studios published games (going forward) are on Xbox One and Windows 10, therefore there's no longer any exclusives to speak of.
Japanese support is all but nonexistent on the Xbox nowadays.
In two years time, Sony will likely announce if not release the PlayStation 5.
Halo Wars 2 came out in early February. The next game from their stables is not coming out until August or September at the earliest. That's eight months without any release(s) from any of their first party studios.
The latter point was the same old story with Quantum Break last year; there was nothing else in between until Forza Horizon 3 came out in September. When will they learn to evenly spread their games out, if ever?
Saying that, I am curious to see what it looks like! I enjoy seeing new technological products being revealed.
@Peek-a-boo I don't own an Xbox One, and I don't think the Scorpio will change that. Still looking forward to seeing what it is though. After all, it's another hardware announcement, and it's possibly more excited than the PS4 Pro (even in terms of capabilities). There's a reason why Microsoft is doing this, and although I'm not sure what their strategy is, I'm curious, and maybe the Scorpio will explain more!
I expect a game announcement as well.. I think? Maybe. PS4 Pro didn't have any, but I think the Scorpio needs a reason to exist more than anything else. I've heard some RDR2 rumours...
I fully expect Microsoft to use Crackdown 3 and Forza 7 to show off Scorpio. Not enough to excite people outside of hardcore Xbox fans and fanboys imo.
