I guess I won't be getting that game digitally... ever.

@Ralizah The info comes from the PS4 Pro bundle and from what I can see that bundle has a physical copy so it may be that the disc just acts as a license key.

EDIT: Oh right, I forgot that PS4 had physical disc installs so I guess it'll be more like a 50GB download with the physical version.

@Ralizah since you have to install from the disc anyways it wouldn't really matter

@redd214 Yes it does. I won't have to download 100+ GB of data over the internet if I nab the disc version.

I'm not concerned about the space. I don't hoard install data for games I'm done playing.

@Grumblevolcano It's a PS4 Pro bundle, so the additional data is probably just 4K textures. The game fits on a 50GB disc after all.

@Grumblevolcano Holy heck, the initial install wasn't close to that on X1X.....I guess I have a jumbo patch on the way. Great.

Edit: I still want to know how the gaming industry expects to push their all digital future, when internet providers still have "generous" 1TB caps when games are frequently 1/10 of your monthly cap each now. I don't have a cap, but the majority of people do. Digital is not compatible with the current internet. At all.

@Ralizah ahh I see your concern now. At the least though you will have to download at least 50gb but I guess that's better than 100 if you have a data cap or something like that.

@redd214 Unlimited data, but my PS4 download speeds are slow-ish as is.

@Octane I mean, Bethesda did publically state it wasn't going on the PS4 unless it had crossplay, whether or not they meant it it is anyone's guess I suppose but still.

@link3710 It's not as if their statements make any sense whatsoever:

“You cannot do cross-play in ’76,'” Howard told German publication GameStar.de (via CNET) in a recent interview. “We’d really love that but right now we can’t. Sony is not as helpful as everyone would like.”[1]

Sony allows crossplay...

''Fallout 76 will not support cross-play, Bethesda confirms''[2]

I think that's the definition of a contradiction Seems like they were just saying it to throw some shade, and seem like the ''good guys''. I mean, not that I disagree about Sony doing crossplay, it IS a good thing they're doing it, but I don't think Bethesda ever cared about it at all. It was all PR talk.

Push Square commenters during crossplay controversy - Playstation doesn't need cross play. Microsoft and Nintendo just want to be a part of Sony's success, it's embarrassing.

After crossplay confirmed - excellent news, this proves it is no fluke the Playstation is the market leader. This is clearly "for the players". Now, you are very welcome to shut the eff up and stop complaining about PlayStation, dear Xbox and Nintendo Switch defense forces.

@OorWullie And this is the kind of reason I really don't like visiting that site.

@NEStalgia I don't think, unfortunately, either publishers or Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo care about whether you data caps exist. They have a goal in mind and that's all that matters. At the end of the day, all they want is more profits and all digital is the best way to accomplish that.

Haha, it's always funny to see such 180s. I remember when Nintendo doing DLC or mobile phone games was the absolute last thing any of its fan wanted. Then when they announced it suddenly it was all about how amazing and special they were

@MisterPi Color me guilty on the DLC, though given how certain companies implement it... Their mobile games still suck though, the only saving grace is that Nintendo isn't actually wasting resources developing them themselves.

Anyways, regarding the crossplay thing, it's quite possible that they were too far along in development of Fallout 76 to turn around and retroactively prep it for crossplay. Legends will have it at least, and we'll have to see about stuff from now on to see if they were just blowing smoke or not.

Octane

@link3710 Fortnite is able to implement it within a day. Fallout 76 could always patch it in if they really cared about it.
