@redd214 That's pretty cool! Shame most of PSNow is PS3 which doesn't qualify but it's really cool all the same. Yes, Yves, streaming is the future! It's so far in the future that the only mainstream streaming service is backpedaling to downloads after dismal failure in streaming!
Oh to be a Sony executive. How do we make more money? Hey look, Nintendo's making mini consoles. Lets do that? Ok! What else? Oh I know, Microsoft is doing well with a gaming subscription for downloads while our streaming service burns on reentry....let's just do that? Ok! PS Swap, the Playstation you can take with you on the go confirmed!!!1
@Octane C'mon everything about 'The Duke' was made for Japanese hands! Seriously though, no custom design, it's going out of it's way to look like PS hardware, clearly Sony had deep involvement in the arcade game. Same the otherwise great game is languishing badly on PS4.
@redd214 LOL, surely there's better options than this!
@NEStalgia haha no lie I have fun with it too. It's great to look like fools in front of each other and get some excersize too. Also great blackmail ammo for the inlaws. Get a couple drinks in them, record them looking like doofuses in just dance and save it until you need it lol!
That's pretty cool. I imagine we'll see that in the next trailer. Although that's also slightly annoying because I never know which view is best to go with.
@NEStalgia eh Ubisoft is really about 50/50 when you think about it. Seems they have about just as many single player offline games (Recent Assassin's Creeds, Mario Rabbids, Far Cry etc) as online only ones (Tom Clancy games, For Honor, The Crew). But in fairness can't fault them and other for going that route from a pure business perspective. The tail on a game like R6 Siege is a lot longer than an assassin's creed.
Outside of maybe Nintendo and Sony I've bought more of their games last 5 or so years than any other pub. They really do make some solid games imo.
EDIT: did some digging and majority of their releases since 2013 have been single player (with optional mp) games. Only about a quarter or so are online only/require a connection from what I can see. I'm sure the revenue split is probably flipped though.
Assassin's Creed Unity and Syndicate required I log into uPlay, IIRC. Pretty sure Far Cry 4 was very insistant on that as well, though I could still skip it. At the end of the day, they want you to spend money on their yearly-released games, though, which I'm not really fond of. Then again, I don't know why anyone finds Assassin's Creed acceptable in its current state, nor do I respect them for hashing out incredibly similar products most of the time. Rainbow Six Seige was the last time they did published anything bold (not counting Mario & Rabbids, since that was developed, and I get that they have creative people among their staff - that's the problem, they could be doing so much more, but they don't). It's too bad even that game wasn't my thing. It's not just safe for me to write them off at this point, they're effectively the publisher people can point to for a lot of AAA gaming's worst trends for nearly a decade, beaten out only by EA, since EA doesn't even really make good games now - they made sure of that by closing down every good studio they had, save for DICE and Bioware, and if Battlefield V and Anthem underperform, lord knows if those two will still be next to go.
Guys how does the PSN (or PSPlus) works exactly on PS4? If I pay for membership I get 2 free games each month? And I can purchase and download games like on Xbox Gold?
Is there a limitation of the games for PS4? Can I play PS2 games that are in the store on PS4 or it is strictly for PS3?
@Zuljaras you get two free games per “platform” so you get 2 for ps4, 1-2 for PS3 and vita. So if you have all three consoles and they are all
Linked to your PS+ you can download the free games for said console.
@Zuljaras Apart from remasters, there are no PS3 games available on PS4. There are a few PS2 Classics available on the store, but don't expect a huge catalog of PS2 games.
@Octane Damn I wanted to play Castlevania Lament of Innocence and Castlevania Curse of Darkness.
I guess I have to find PS2 discs on a sale and play them on my PS3
@Zuljaras If you want to be sure, just check the PS Store. But I don't think many of them are currently available. However, with the recent announcement of the PS1 Classic, and the download option for PS Now, they may start offering more PS1/PS2 games in the near future. Many people have been asking for this.
@Zuljaras if it say that then those are the consoles that it is compatible with. The upside is that if you have all those console, you just have to buy the game once for all three systems
@Dezzy Haha I know what you mean. Elder Scrolls: First person all the way with periodic changes to 3rd when indoors because TES camera sucks. RDR...I don't know...it feels like a 3rd person game to me.
@CanisWolfred I don't know, I feel like Ubi's output is generally good once they fix it with big, interesting games. The online security checks should die. But current Assassin's Creed is the best it's been since AC1. I still hold 1 as the best. I love aspects of Ezio's series but it was a downgrade, gameplay wise. Then came the long dark. But Origins really brings back a lot of what the first 1 had. Not quite as good but a lot of it, mixed with some MGSV. If Odyssey holds true to that (and they call it an RPG officially now, so there's that....weird to take your main series and make it an RPG in 2018, but I'm not complaining) it should be a stellar game. I'm not sure what they're doing with Tom Clancy though.....what a waste of a good brand. Though without Clancy himself advising anymore I suppose it was inevitable.
Bioware's already gone. It exists barely in name only. Bio Canada was basically shut down (reduced to "support" i.e. "content farm for other games" status) after the failure of Andromeda. Bio (main) had most of the managerial staff leave, then they rolled the studio into "EA Worldwide Studio" alongside the remnants of Maxis and EA Mobile (!!) all headed by Soderlund of DICE, then the Maxis former chief.) Since then nearly all the writers have left. Define "Bioware"? There's less Bioware in Bioware than there is Rare in Rare. Studio's gone. Has been for a year or two. Like everything else EA touches, there is DICE, and there is only DICE.
@Zuljaras It works basically like XBLG, there's actually more free games available than GwG, though some are PS3, some are Vita. PS4 can only play PS4 games, not PS3 games (there's no BC on PS4 because PS3 was a weird, weird machine that PS4 can't emulate, and they never did PS2 emulation, just some "selects" ported to PS4 as download games.) But yeah you get two (or more) PS4 games a month. Plus 2 PS3 and 2 Vita games if you have the hardware.
And of course the PSN store is a full store like Microsoft Store and eShop, you can buy any games. There are weekly sales (like Deals with Gold) and sometimes Flash Sales with deep discounts that randomly pop up on a Friday through a weekend (Microsoft does that as well sometimes but only for one game, not a whole sale.)
You can "collect" ("buy") PS3 and Vita games from the store on the PS4, but you can't play them on the hardware.
And yes, the PSN store UI is a horrible, horrible mess. It's not bad on the hardware. In a browser it's pretty gross.
