@Dezzy Okay good, thank you. I was afraid that was actually genuine having never played FF XIII myself.

@link3710 I don't know about anyone else, but I only noticed Digimon Survive news recently - since May I think? So sue me for not keeping up with every little announcement - I try, but I'm not a bot. This is definitely the first I've heard about Digimon Story Next since December, so I think my worry was at least somewhat justified when this new game seems to be focused on while the ambiguously titled sequel to a game I liked is nowhere to be seen.

@Dezzy That is a terrible idea. What if I don't want Assassin's Creed Lawdyssey, but do want those remasters?

EDIT: Oh, right, Ubisoft =/= Activision. I can still get the remasters separately on release. Okay, that's actually not a bad deal...assuming you actually like Assassin's Creed, and are willing to go back and replay two of the worst games in the series, topped only by AssCreed Unity....

@link3710 LOL, if you can't make complete, perfect, totally comprehensible sense out of my sentence, absolutely never ever ever touch FFXIII My poetry above is like an excerpt from that literary masterwork.

Yeah I was mocking the game. They drop you in and start throwing all those words around as though you have any idea what they mean. And they never really bother to explain it...you're just supposed to figure it out in context. On paper that's what all fiction does. In practice.....those words are so arbitrary it would make more sense if they just started randomly replacing words with ancient Japanese.

@dezzy Wow that's cool! Makes the decision to buy the whopping $99 version a little easier since it actually includes 2 other retail games (that I've already bought at full retail price on other platforms.........) I'd like to see Liberation in HD. 3 can go rot. What a horrid game. Still those were the only two I didn't buy on X1/PS4 yet, so I can complete the full collection with just the price of he season pass. Not too shabby.

They included FarCry 3 with FarCry 5 deluxe/pass too.

@Dezzy But everyon'es thought they were remastering for years and it never happens. Now they're remastering the GCN multiplayer FF and not 13 trilogy. Also it's odd but 13-2 and Lightening Returns are digitally available, but 13 base was never digitally available on 360. Similar situation with (another S-E game) Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut. The original DXHR is BC and is still sold digitally. But the Directors cut (which is also BC) was never made available digitally and works disc only.

IIRC 13 was also pulled quite some time ago from PS Now. It was there originally and then it was gone. There's something about 13 they keep making it scarce (could S-E really recognize their game sucks like a Hoover? )

Strangely I'd really like to revisit with a trilogy though. Gameplay was good, even if everything else was bad, and I never played the two sequels.

@CanisWolfred Seriously what is it with S-E and Sony? Any game on Sony stays locked on Sony forever. Any game on other platforms eventually makes it to Sony. And sometimes they get deleted from other platforms and moved to Sony as an exclusive. Despite not official contracts. Whatever is going on between those two seems to be a wink and nod backroom deal but S-E seems to be terrified of offending Sony at any cost. (MS executives reported that during meetings in Japan prior to OG XBox launch there would be meetings with SE execs at an event standing next to Sony executives and despite having had tons of close negotiations with them, would pretend they didn't recognize who they were and had never met them, just to not risk offending Sony.) S-E is the only company, not even Capcom, that seems to have this permanent tethering to Sony. I half wonder if Sony quietly controls an important part of their share value. Or knows of some sort of criminal activity in their past or something. It's not natural their weird self defeating behavior as a business as though they're a subsidiary of Sony.

The actual story of FF13 is pretty much like that. They have like 20 invented words that you need to memorise in order to understand what they're talking about. It's a bit ridiculous.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

TuVictus

As ridiculous as it is, they were all readily explained in the data log. Not that it gives them an excuse to not include it in the actual cutscenes, but I don't think it's nearly as awful as everyone likes to say it is. Lore was interesting enough, they just hid alllll away in a bunch of menus for some incomprehensible reason.

@Dezzy The only thing worse than the totally made up names like L'Cie, Fal'Cie, Cie'th is the terrible habit Square has of taking common nouns and turning them into proper nouns (Focus, Pulse, Cocoon) so that every time you hear them you have to do a little translation in your head as to the meaning not being the common meaning you expect it to be.

It would be seriously easier if they just used some real ancient language or something. Ming Dynasty Chinese or something....at least you could look it up in a dictionary and it actually has a proper definition.

Worse still is intermingling the made up words and the re-appropriated common to proper nouns so you're still translating one while you're trying to recall another, and you've already missed dialog.

@MisterPi If your post is the best defense for the presentation that can be made, I don't think any defense can be mounted. "Oh all the random gibberish is clearly explained....in a menu on the system panel. Imagine if a stage play had a little program book that you had to read to understand each character the actors were discussing? It's one thing to add back story to "lore" but it's another when the actual dialog is nonsensical without looking up a glossary as they introduce new words. "Learn Cocconese in just 12 weeks!" Shouldn't be a preorder bonus.

Captain! The EPS Conduits are down to 12%! What if we apply an accelerated Thibentium particle stream to the inverted poleron phase array? We could get another 15% of power through the vectral shield emitters and deliver a quntium fold through the dimensional exospace! That might just work!

Also, interesting about Assassin's Creed III Remastered: "based on player feedback, a large number of features have been revamped, tweaked or fixed. We’ll share more details leading up to the game’s launch."

Maybe it won't be the sucky game anymore?

I think that's just a Japanese thing isn't it?
It is something they do in Korea anyway. I have 2 Korean cousins and their names are like Leaf and Stream (or something like that, I hardly ever see them).

It took me a while to figure out what you were even talking about...but it's just a Square-Enix mismanagement thing, near as I can tell - they have been pretty bad when it comes to supporting PC in general, they just don't know what they're doing. The Last Remnant was one of the few exceptions (I'd include FF14 as well, but...I mean, there's a reason they even needed the relaunch in the first place, they didn't know what they were doing at first). That's partly due to Japan not having much of a PC market - nowhere near as big as it is outside Japan, especially since their bigger download sites are buried under such huge mountainss of porn and/or shovelware that Valve could only dream of - and therefore having less of a talent and marketing pool to figure it all out.

Guys … I just got home from work and this was on my bed. I am still thinking that it is not real. The same thing happened with the Switch last year in the same month.

My GF is responsible for this. She told me it was supposed to be for my birthday on the 29th this month but the surprise would be better now.

I guess I just joined the PS community.

I just downloaded Divnity: Original Sin for PS4 despite only going by it's reputation. Was not expecting it to be turn based at all. It's a very slow game, but I do love the sheer amount of detail put into it. It really does feel like a realized Dungeons and Dragons type of game, complete with the micro management as well as the sometimes dull amount of exposition. But it's a breath of fresh air, at least.

@FragRed Finally after a week got a reply from Razer: "Sony has not authorized Razer in North America". Just like the OG Raiju, for some unknown reason, Sony is the problem preventing Razer from selling their controllers in NA, but they can everywhere else in the world. I guess they're not paying to play? So this is a controller for everyone but Americans and Canadians, apparently. I'll have to gray market import whenever they show up on Amazon. Probably for a rediculous premium. (Yet hideous DIY Scuf is authorized....) Maybe I should buy the Brook + Elite after all.

Dear Sony: Please stop finding reasons to make me hate you.

@MisterPi I've been meaning to give Divinity: Original Sins a go for quite a while now, since its approach to gameplay sounds genuinely novel. I've never been a big fan of Western RPGs, though, so I keep putting it off, in case it turns out to be yet another disappointment...

Spider-Man is … well amazing. The game is so damn fluid and so fun to play. I love the Arkham formula no matter that it originated on older Spider-Man games.
This is how developers should make super hero games!

The Arkham series and this game are a must have for the fans!

NEStalgia

@MisterPi LOL all of those games are meant to be spiritual successors to the Infinity Engine (Bioware) games from Interplay/Black Isle. Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale, etc, actual licensed D&D games.

Still I couldn't get into Divinity. Something about the Black Isle magic was just missing.

NEStalgia

FragRed

@NEStalgia That seems such an odd thing to do. Why would you want to minimise the number of accessories available in one of your biggest markets for a console that is selling so well? It can't be anything to do with quality standards if they are sold elsewhere. The more this generation continues, the more Sony finds ways to look bad for the consumers it has began the generation by actively campaigning for through marketing and PR.
