I'm not really looking forward to anything on PS4 in Q4. I am excited for Resident Evil 2 next year, but I'll be nabbing that on my PC, which, even though its a lower-middle tier machine, is still running circles around the base PS4 in terms of performance.
I did just nab Ratchet and Clank in the recent sale, though, and I have Nier: Automata, Yakuza 0, and a few other big games to play on the system, so it's hardly like I won't be using it.
I'd rather buy Switch games at launch, as I use the system more often and the games don't usually go on sale as often.
@EvilLucario I believe Shadow of the Colossus runs at a higher framerate on the Pro as well.
@Ralizah Ah yes, that's another game I would like to pick up. Hm... honestly, I'm probably just going to stick with the base model. Two games with higher framerates probably isn't worth the extra few hundred bucks in price.
Doesn't help that the PS4 Pro also looks butt-ugly.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
@Ralizah I don't have the space for VR, so I'm going to pass. And while I'm also going to get a 1440p or 4K monitor for my PC (that I'll also use for the Switch and future PS4), 1080p (or hell, even 720p) is still just fine for me.
But anyway, thanks. Guess I'll be looking for those sweet PS4 deals this Black Friday.
@EvilLucario you'll be able to get a killer deal this year I'm sure. Probably $200 with a newly released game or extra controller. Can't wait for black Friday this year!
If you want PS4 or XB1 (either don't have one yet or want to upgrade your current model), the best option is to wait for Black Friday sales. Both the Slim/S and Pro/X are bound to have crazy sales at that time.
Spiderman is the only thing that is going to pull me away from my switch this year. I can't wait!!!
Is that the only thing out of the 8 or so massive games in Q4 you're excited about? I'd assumed most people were pretty excited about at least 2 or 3?
Well, a lot of third party games are headed to the Switch, so I could a lot of people holding out for Switch versions, if they aren't already announced.
I don't have a Switch, so I got a bunch for Q4 2018
Gimme a sec here...
Override: Mech City Brawl
Hitman 2 (If I can get Hitmasn 1 before it's out, at least)
Soul Calibur VI
Mega Man 11
Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden
Just Cause 4
Not gonna lie, though, there's a lot more games that peak my interests between Now and the end of September.
EDIT: Watched some gameplay of Mutant Year Zero, and yeah, I think I'll dig that one. I liked XCOM a lot, I liked what I've played of Hitman, and I liked Invisible Inc., so I think I have a good chance of enjoying this one as well. The story seems like it'd be my thing, too, of course.
Gonna be building up a list of PS4 games to get. I'm sticking with only exclusives, because I'd much rather pick up multiplatforms on PC (but Red Dead Redemption 2 I have no interest picking up, and I'm holding off on Kingdom Hearts III until a PC/Switch release is announced).
So far I have these games on my list:
Bloodborne
Persona 5
God of War 2018
Gravity Rush 1 + 2
Horizon Zero Dawn
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5
Shadow of the Colossus
Might be interested in:
The Last Guardian
The Last of Us 1
Not interested in Uncharted and Spider-Man at the moment. Might change, but they aren't priorities to me and I don't think I'm going to really change my mind unless there's a big sale. Any other exclusives to pick up or did I pretty much list all the good ones already?

@EvilLucario Depends on who you ask. Tearaway is barely ever mentioned, I don't know why. It's a great game and bound to be cheap at this point, so check it out if you think it looks neat.
Then there's Ratchet & Clank. Infamous Second Son and Killzone Shadow Fall are pretty good games, but they probably won't blow you away. Detroit Become Human is a very different experience. I liked it a lot. If you're open to trying something new and maybe a bit more experimental, give it a try. All five Uncharted games are available on PS4 too. And Journey is worth playing if you haven't already.
I didn't think the character design was that good based on earlier screenshots but in motion it does like quite good. Just looks like a younger version of the character.
@Tsurii Abzu is worse. It's Journey, but with less interesting environments and controls that force you to hold down the right trigger the entire time.
But yeah, Journey is one of many Playstation exclusives that I didn't care for. Glad I didn't pay for it.
Currently Playing on January 13, 2026: The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy (PC)
I enjoyed Journey. Was a fun few hours and was a bit more thought provoking than most games. Certainly not a GOTY but I thought it was great and recommend it!

This is the nearest game on the PS4 that I’m looking forward to. Heard RE2 was arguably the best in the series and I’m a boring loser who still likes zombies so win win.
Beyond that, I’m not really interested in any other PS4 game.
Anyway, I quite like how Claire and Sherry look like actual human beings, it's quite refreshing from their usual videogame character designs. Claire in particular looks very 90's with that hairstyle, and Sherry looks suitably miserable.
