For those who go on to complete the likes of Dark Souls and Bloodborne will appreciate the interconnected ‘world’, and realise that the level design is an absolute masterclass in world building.

Kicking down the ladder underneath the dragon bridge in the Undead Burg is genuinely one of the coolest moments I ever had in any video game.
It was just like : "Wow, why haven't more games done this?"

Alright, you all have convinced me. I'm adding Bloodborne to my list to get once I (finally) get a PS4. Just waiting for E3 to see what's announced for bundles...

@NEStalgia if you really dislike bloodborne, you should really just cancel your dark souls pre order, its uglier, clunkier, slower and less accommodating to beginners.

@Dezzy Although I prefer Bloodborne and Demon’s Souls more so than Dark Souls, I will say that the letter provided me with more of those ‘aha, now that’s clever!’ moments than the former two games.

On the subject of Dark Souls, I won’t be buying the remaster at the end of this month because I have gone through the original game twice and with two very different characters/builds too. My partner and I are also moving house in the first week of June so, a game like Dark Souls isn’t going to be my cuppa tea.

On a completely different subject altogether, whilst it is unlikely to be true, there’s an ‘unconfirmed list’ of games to be shown at Sony’s E3 showcase in four weeks time, and if true - which it in all likelihood isn’t - then I would be a relatively happy chap!

@Peek-a-boo I think I've seen that list before. The only issue I have with it is that Square is doing its own conference this year. If Kingdom Hearts and FFVII are at Sony's conference, what are they going to show during theirs?

I also believe that Bend/Sony said that Days Gone won't be at E3, hence the extensive Game Informer coverage this month.

Dreary and beautiful maybe. This definitely can't count as ugly:

I can definitely appreciate it from an artistic point of view, but I just generally don't enjoy such depressing worlds in games, especially when dying over and over is already depressing. I can see that a lot of effort and skill went into it, but I personally much prefer a world that looks similar to Breath of the Wild in terms of art style and whatnot.

After hearing that the project has switched hands at least once and the team is basically re-imagining the entire premise, now, according to a behind closed doors conversation between producer Yoshinori Kitase and development lead Naoki Hamaguchi at the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary celebration event, we have a guesstimated release window. It's...drumroll...2023, the 35th anniversary of Final Fantasy. Hamaguchi seemingly finds this unacceptable, so the team is working to have it out earlier, but that could be a very probably reality.
The transcript was obtained by someone attending the event, and we've reached out to Square Enix to corroborate the statement (and if they could have been referring to "all of the episodes" in this episodic release), and to get a possible updated release window. For now, that window could be "by 2023." If they don't offer a comment we'll probably get some sort of update during Square Enix's pre-recorded E3 video.

I was being sarcastic when I said it would be a PS5 game people!

2023! Hahaha! I love how SE always messes up magnificently when it comes to Final Fantasy.

@YummyHappyPills

If you read the original post on Lifestream, he does make it clear the 2023 thing was said jokingly because it would be the 35th anniversary of FF.
Hopefully that's just destructoid misreading something.
Trying to get the intended meaning out of translations is notoriously unreliable. Like that time they said the world of Xenoblade Chronicles was the size of Japan and it was obviously not a literal statement (and he probably just meant "it's REALLY big") but loads of people interpreted it as one.

It's worth remembering that last year they said that KH3 and FF7 would be both released with the next 3 years (i.e both before 2020):

It was officially revealed when Bethesda threw a hissy fit at WalMart, which also confirms all the OTHER unannounced games.

Thanks Bethesda for spoiling E3!

@YummyHappyPills oh gosh relax lol, I see more of a hissy fit in that reply than what Bethesda did. I mean most of the stuff in the Walmart leak was known/teased/heavily rumored for months anyways. Not that big of a deal imo.

@YummyHappyPills yeah I saw what he said. Didn't take it as anything bad. I personally viewed it as them just leaning into it and having some fun as opposed to the standard copy/paste "we have nothing to announce at this time" line we get from most companies.

redd214

Haruki_NLI

@redd214 See, it's been noted by many that leaning into it when it's a likely release is fine. Say, Splinter Cell or something.

Here we have the most unlikely thing on the list being real which just means everything else there is also real. XD

@Octane Only just platinum’ed God of War, and I am left with a gaping void in my playtime. I have a few other games to play, but I just know they are not going to be as engrossing as God of War...

I shall probably give gaming a bit of a break until I move into my new house, as I am sure the desire to boot up and play a new game will eventually come back to me after a few months.

Not really in the mood to play something interactive-ish like Detroit, and Dark Souls Remastered sounds like hard work at the moment! I have got Mario Tennis Aces to look forward to towards the end of June.

p.s. That Rage 2 teaser on the page prior to this one looks absolutely nothing like the original game...

Peek-a-boo

Dezzy

Just realised FF7 remake for Xbox One was part of the same Walmart leak that had Rage 2 on, which has just been confirmed, along with that list of other unannounced games (that all sound very likely)

Given that it looks very much like a list of E3 reveals, I hope that means we're seeing FF7 at E3. Why else would they have recently got info that it was coming to Xbox too?

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

TuVictus

Yeah FF7 will definitely be at E3. No way they have a presser with no FF7, it's pretty much all anyone expects, next to KH3. And yeah, it's been clarified that the translation missed out on the joking nature of the exchange. But ya know, headlines and all that.
