@Ralizah I'm looking around Gamestop and apparently a lot of stuff is on sale there, too. Just FYI. I have a few things to trade in, so I'll be headed there. There's a Best Buy in the same mall, though, so now I know where to look if the best stuff is sold out already...
Watched the bf play it. The visuals are simply amazing. And the gameplay is something I really am impressed by. I definitely did not expect to enjoy the game so much after the initial reveal, but here we are.
Also screw YouTube for their recommended videos where people just post spoilers as the title and thumbnail.
@Octane Me either. I honestly don't know why it showed up, I never even searched for videos fully expecting that to happen. :/ It sucks, but at least it gives me something to look forward to.
@MisterPi Probably because it is trending (apparently it's a thing millions of people watch), and gaming related. Then YouTube's algorithm does the rest and it ends up in your recommended videos.
Makes sense. Frustrating for someone like me that's constantly on YouTube. Well, now that I've clicked Not Interested in all of the GoW videos, I'm hoping they don't show up anymore and spoil other things.
But back to the game, that first real boss fight is an absolute visual spectacle as well as surprisingly difficult. I didn't think "Give Me a Challenge" would actually live up to the name so quickly lol
Kratos just ain't gonna stop until he kills all the Gods lol. Even in a new mythology, he manages to destroy everything.
Lol the god killing version of Assassin's Creed. Kratos travels through different world mythologies killing all the gods.
I look forward to Kratos vs the Buddha. (not a god I know, but it'll do)
Bearing in mind that the last four games I have played are Shadow of the Colossus (remake), Sea of Thieves, Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, after four hours and a bit of play, I can quite happily say that God of War is my favourite out of those games.
Easily, easily, easily the best game of the year so far!
@Dezzy If you like the combat in Bloodborne as much as I do, you’ll feel surprisingly at home with this.
I’ll write up my bit either tomorrow or Monday sometime. I am itching to get back to this!

As is expected, it falls in line with your tastes more than the other games. Gotta remember its the highest rated non-service based story driven game in years according to the NPD folks.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
@Octane I'm on my phone and also I forget spoiler tags, I'm sorry! But I don't think the given name is a spoiler. Goes by The Stranger. Though I won't speak anymore than his name without spoiler tags.
I just got to a bridge scene early on. The mechanics are so beautifully satisfying to play. And even losing feels more like a learning experience than anything frustrating
@MisterPi Hah, that's OK, I know what you're talking about. There's an encounter before that one, and some consider that to be the first official boss fight, hence the question! But it's pretty good, isn't it? It's a great way to set up the story.
Been playing the Ratchet & Clank reboot. I remembered that a lot of what I liked in Warframe applied to R&C (right down to the grind...), so I figured that would be a good transition.
...Yeah, 5 minutes in and I'm shocked at how good it is. A lot of little details in the environments and animation, and certainly more complex AI behavior. I forgot what it was like to play a AAA game, essentially. Definitely glad I played it again. It's still disappointing compared to the original on the PS2, but...well, I don't think this formula will ever truly get old for me.
‘The Stranger’ boss fight was legitimately one of best grounded boss fights I have ever played.
The axe is incredibly satisfying to use, and the heavy heft behind Krato’s animation along with the natural sounding audio makes it a very, very memorable opening hour or two!
And hearing Krato say ‘boy’ never gets old.
I have been out in the sunshine today so, I won’t be playing anymore until tomorrow evening...
Haha, I have the same thoughts. Another small but super amazing thing I like about the game is the very very natural transition from boat stories to the land. The audio doesn't cut off or anything, it's very organic in how it handles the player interrupting a sequence
Recommendation for those playing God of War, if you have a good headset use it! Played the first few hours on my surround sound system and it of course sounded great. Played last night with the Sony Gold Headset and wow, picked up so much more. The animals, the leaves rustling everything sounds amazing. I'm usually not an audiophile but the difference was striking!
I'm playing on give me a challenge for my first play through. It lives up to the name. Can't count how many times I've accidentally activated skills or runes just by holding the controller too tense during a fight
Crash was the 3rd best selling game in Italy at retail in 2017, ahead of Horizon, GT Sport, and every Nintendo game, despite Nintendo posting record system sales - they just cant compete on software.
Further, here in the UK on Amazon, Spyro and Crash are filling the chart.
