@Haru17 I have no bias. EA has a history of killing off studios. There is that fear, based on factual evidence.

That's it. That's not an opinion. That's not a conflict with me. It's not a bias against EA. It's what has happened.

@Tsurii As much as I'd like to, I refuse to give them any money for something that should be free.

Blimey, I feel like I am already playing a potential game of the year.

Nope, it is not Dragon Ball FighterZ, nor is it Monster Hunter: World... but a little indie game called Celeste.

I literally rushed home from work yesterday to carry on playing it!

It’s that good.

Since I have been away in Barbados for the past two weeks, I have been out of the loop with regards to almost anything newsworthy.

I am pleased to see that God of War has finally got a release date, on the 20th of April, which will give me time to enjoy Shadow of the Colossus in two weeks time, as well as potentially buying Ni no Kuni II at the end of March depending on my school work and markings to do. Then the Dark Souls Remaster in May!

I’m trying to stick to one game at a time, just like I successfully did last year.

@Peek-a-boo You wouldn't have had to rush home from work if you had it on Switch, which is weirdly the system it had the most marketing for.

But I've heard good things about it. Very good things. I'm just trying to find a job and get some new tech before really splashing on games now...

@YummyHappyPills I have already told myself that I won’t be buying a Switch until Metroid Prime 4, or at least until the next hardware revision like the DS to the DS lite, or the chunky original 3DS to the ‘new’ 3DS.

I can wait!

I bought the Wii, 3DS and Wii U on day one, and I regretted it every single time. I only have my eye on Super Mario Odyssey, and maybe Golf Story. The vast majority of the indies on the Switch, however good they are, have been on the PlayStation 4 for a year, two or three or more. Portability isn’t a big factor for me either.

Anyhoo, you should definitely buy Celeste (at some point). I sincerely doubt that you would regret it.

Whilst I don’t take much stock in the reviews here on Nintendo Life, given that they hand 10’s out like candy and for undeserved games too (Splatoon 2, I am looking at you), they have given Celeste a 10/10.

@YummyHappyPills It's so expensive in the UK though... When I was in London, a friend of mine bought a train ticket to Manchester, to see his family, I was shocked when he told me the price he paid!

I mean, Celeste looks okay, but I don't see how it distinguishes itself from games like Super Meat Boy and Slime-san that cost less and offer tens of hours of fun. Aside from the brief bits of narrative, anyway. But I don't play twitchy platformers like that to watch characters jabber at each-other.

The music IS nice, though.

@Octane Nah. I tried Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii, and it’s not for me.

Just Celeste in January, Shadow of the Colossus in February, Ni no Kuni II in March (it’s a maybe at the moment), God of War in April, Dark Souls Remaster in May and hopefully Spider-Man in June or July!

Anything else in between is a bonus, especially indie games like Donut County, Fe, The Gardens Between, Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition and the echochrome-esque game that you have mentioned a few times.

My partner and I are aiming to move out into the countryside when spring eventually arrives so, LEGO, tennis and videogames - as well as my time on here - are going to be taking a very big backseat this year.

@Peek-a-boo I believe Detroit is scheduled for the first half of 2018 as well, but I'm not sure if you're interested in that?

Manifold Garden? Yeah, I think I'll get that one too. Tunic looks promising also, like a classic 2D Zelda with Dark Souls-y combat, and it looks brilliant too!

Neat! Proper countryside? As in an old farm in the middle of nowhere, or as in a small village?

Have you started Zelda yet by the way? I know I'm not allowed to ask, since I haven't touched Bloodborne since I booted it up last year!

Paragon is closing April 26th.

This is not fair. It was on the right path, it just needed some work - clearer direction, some better tutorials, and a few important features that were already in the works. Instead, they trashed the whole thing and called it a night. Goddamnit. It's an Epic Fail. A glorious joke made worse by how a little success from their recent trend-chasing went straight to their heads.

Much like how Paladins went straight down the gutter...I'm glad I played it when I did, and I'll charish those moments...I just wish they had stuck with it. I mean, I even referenced Paladins - Hi-Rez is gonna work through their Issues. Motiga's pouring their heart and soul into Gigantic. The fact that this is ending so close to the finish line is utterly infuriating! Argh!

...I never even got to hear the voice acting they were working on...

@Octane @CanisWolfred I hate when any online game shuts down as I feel for its fans, however you can't be surprised that they are shutting it down with the success of Fortnite. It almost seems as battle royal games are becoming the new MOBA. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the team is moved to Fortnite.

@Tasuki It's a surprise because of the amount of work that went in. It was a good game, and it's sad that it had to go. They gave up well before it was necessary, when it supposedly launching out of
Beta early this year. I get that they needed to move resources so Fortnite can remain sustainable as far as personel goes, however. I just hope this doesn't wind up biting them in the butt too quickly - You know how fads come and go like lightning. I'd hate to see Paragon die for nothing, especially since Battle Royale games aren't my thing in the slightest.

@CanisWolfred Right, I know how fads can be and completely agree with you. I mean I can see where the studio is coming from. For one thing it's hard to establish Paragon in an already flooded market that is the MOBA market. You have so many other MOBAs like DotA and LoL not to mention Smite and Blizzards Heroes of the Storm that honestly the company probably felt that it was a losing battle to stand out from the others. Where as Fortnite at this time only has one real competitor, PUBG and thats really only on PC and Xbox. PS4 there is no competition and if they are looking into a Switch version...

Also if what I read was correct, Paragon saw a huge drop in player base once Fortnite Battle Royal came out.
