So... The Last of Us is getting a PS5 remake, I guess. Pretty bizarre, IMO, and it means we probably won't be seeing anything new out of them for quite a while.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@Ralizah I mean, we'll have to see how this all unfolds, but scaling down Japan Studio, another TLOU remake, no Days Gone sequel which people were hoping for, doesn't sounds great all things considered.
Though, I don't have an issue with Bend trying something new, as I prefer new IPs over sequels. And Sony needs some studios that don't just do a sequel to their PS4 games. The reason why this is all happening is more worrying indeed.
@Zuljaras More than likely it's something to line up with the HBO series, so they can cash in on new fans of the show who haven't played the OG game, IDK.
Meanwhile, i'm so curious, excited and nervous to wait the day i will purchase KeyboardMania 1 + 2 PS2.
I have never played piano before but KeyboardMania looks fun as Beatmania IIDX and Pop'n Music.
That news doesn't reflect well on Sony at all. Them attempting to turn Bend into a support studio and rejecting a pitch for Days Gone despite the first being profitable is worrying.
This obsession with blockbuster hits makes me worried for the future of franchises like Ratchet & Clank.
Also remaking The Last of Us is the most asinine waste of resources I've heard of in a while.

Imagine having the budget to remake a game for the PS5 and having the entire history of Playstation exclusives to choose from.
Metal Gear Solid? Symphony Of the Night? Ape Escape? Legend of Dragoon?
Nope, lets go with the game that no-one wants a remake of, because it's already perfect and hasn't aged at all. I'm sure they'll do a great job and it'll be a high quality product, but the opportunity cost is completely ridiculous.
I could've sworn one (or both) of those was published by Sony, but yeah apparently not. Maybe I'm thinking of FF7.
I'm not sure it will sell that much more than Ape Escape would! Ape Escape 1 was an incredible game that did really well at the time. A lot of people just won't bother with TLOU because the PS4 version is good enough.
@Dezzy How many copies did Ape Escape even sell? I'd have a hard time imagining it being more successful than Knack these days.
TLOU has been a top seller for Sony. If they add in enough new content and line it up with the show, people will buy it. That will sell a couple of millions guaranteed.
Well the first Knack sold over 5 million, so that's not as bad a target as it sounds. Knack had a fairly poor reception though, whereas Ape Escape (the first one specifically) was incredibly highly regarded (90 on metacritic), so maybe comparing it to Ratchet & Clank, Crash or Spyro would be better. All of which sold very well. The Crash trilogy definitely outsold TLOU2 for example.
Of course if you include new content, that changes things though, I'm talking about a straight graphical update in PS5 graphics, which is what I'm assuming it will be. They'd be kinda insane to actually change anything else about the game, given that it's widely regarded as being nearly flawless. But then again, so is RE4 and apparently they're redoing that.....
The Sony news is really not good, imo. Relying on safer, and fewer big video games instead of a wide variety is my least favorite thing about video games by major companies nowadays (well my least favorite that doesn't feel like its stepping into any "actually morally wrong" territory, but I guess Naughty Dog already has that covered :V). **** off. Even EA just put out a weird, smaller, interesting video game, imagine being more scared of creativity than EA. Inexcusable. It doesn't even make sense, Sony at least partially relies on its first party releases to sell consoles, and they're single player. At least other companies try to put out multiplayer games that get updated for a long time, because that's how they work. Why would you put out less of your single player games?
I hope everyone that left goes on to make some wildly successful game, just to spite them.
@Slowdive I wonder what the hell’s going on with Sony now. Why are they trying to make a brand out of Astro Bot again? Cute and good for one game but you can’t make Astro Bot the PlayStation mascot...
From what I’ve played the Naughty Dog games are unafraid of taking risks, and this is why butthurt gamers are so angry that The Last of Us Part II went in the direction it did. That’s why Kojima games are so divisive. And that’s why Sony want universally loved safe games.
@Dezzy I don't think it will be a straight forward remake if they do one. They surely will add in additional content, maybe even an alternate timeline or something that deviates from the original. If this leak is true, I think it's just to create more buzz around the HBO series, whichever comes out first. They'll probably change the look of the cast to reflect the actors in the series as well.
