@RR529 Yeah...I mean it really plays like an arcade light-gun game despite the cool setup...but...it's not bad or anything. It's just a lot more basic than I hoped. As an arcade rails-shooter (you don't even move the mech yourself, it's just a train ride...) it's decent. But it's not really a true mecha game either. DxM still looks like the mech game to top for the moment. RIGS is actually....it's hard to describe but the control is AWESOME. IT feels like a real mech. Such a shame that it's mostly just an online arena sports game. I tried the single player...it felt great, but didn't play great - spawn-die. Spawn-die. Spawn-die. You don't even have time to react. Multi is probably better but I still feel "meh" about it.
I miss Battletech and Star Siege.
@redd214 Suddenly the Sonic movie is starting to look like this week's good news...... That's....dismal. It's like suddenly Sony just stopped caring completely. It's bleak when NSO's NES games of the month look better....
I'm in a JRPG kinda mood so I just started up Tales of Zestiria this morning (I got it during one of the December or January sales). Not much to say on it yet since I'm just now to the point of getting ready to leave the opening area.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
@Dezzy, I've played Vesperia in recent memory on 360, so I didn't feel the need to play it again soon (If I buy a new copy, it'll be the Switch version), and while I've heard Berseria is better than Zestiria, it's for that reason I want to save it for later (I may buy it now however, while it's on sale).
OH a first look at a new title, i wonder what that will be?
"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"
"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!
I tried the Last Guardian VR demo. Too short, but incredibly awesome. Trico is terrifying. I was cringing the whole time I played! He's like a cat...but 1400x bigger.
I also finally gave DOOM VFR a spin. It's surprisingly good which I didn't expect...though...it gets let down by being brutally difficult simply because the high speed dodging & weaving of Doom 2016 doesn't really work in VR. I keep getting blasted way too fast in the first big arena battle, and I can't even tell what I'm doing wrong. Yet the overall game works so well.
I also decided, that VR is the Skyrim version I'll finally play out of my 4 versions (X1X pretty, Switch portable, X360 old, VR.) Tamriel is just too cool in first person.
Finally, I bought the Persona Dancing Endless edition on the Golden Week sale. I was going to buy P5's but with the bundle 30% off too, I just splurged. I'm not a rhythm game fan but somehow Persona rhythm + VR support was too cool to ignore. Still better than Persona Musou.
@Ralizah you know, it's weird, I tried Tetris Effect in 2D...and surprisingly there's a special "something" that felt missing compared to VR. The VR doesn't really add much...but somehow, it just feels better. I can't explain why.
I think that PS direct on 9th May 2019 will be ZERO games for my criteria.
If not Portal Knights / The Sims games / Something cute or kiddie = No Deal. No buy.
Even Dreams for PS4 (Early Access ) was still looked like a food with artificial flavor and color for a "kiddie" game.
@Octane LOL, it's the truth, I don't get it either. I'm ok with Doom 2016 and original doom. I am **NOT** ok with Doom 3. Can't play it. That was done as pure horror. I think with Doom 2016/OG it's because you have the power, and although there's blood everywhere, you move faster, and the monsters are pure fantasy characters rather than believable twisting of humans, (and the "zombies" aren't very detailed as zombies, mostly suits of armor moving around...). I wasn't actually sure how I was going to take to it in VR though. I can kind of just side-eye it in 2D and wasn't sure if I'd really play the VR version. But somehow with the Iron Maiden-esque music pumping in your head, the high speed blur of dodging and weaving, etc, it doesn't feel "horror" and things move too fast to notice any gore. I expected I wouldn't be so comfortable with it, but it didn't really bother me at all, even in VR.
Doom 3 is a different matter entirely. Won't touch it. Original Prey bothers me too (cool in some ways so I forced myself half way through but I couldn't take much more of it.) I wouldn't seek the theme, but Doom 2016/VFR somehow doesn't trigger my rejection reaction more than slightly.
