@sixrings 540p60 in handheld mode isn't too bad. Glad they prioritized the framerate, honestly.

I consider buying this game but I read that some of the content that was free if you preordered the game, is now dlc you have to pay for. I doubt that it's true since I read it in a 0/10 review on metacritic. Anyone who knows for sure?

@Linkus I think there's like, 90 something potions in the main game that give various aesthetic changes. There's another 3 that were a preorder bonus, and are now DLC yes. They don't affect gameplay however so you can feel free to ignore them.

Thanks, good to hear! Will buy this sooner or later.

@Ralizah I don't play in handheld. And remember the days when switch owners were like this 720p is so much better than the 480p Wii u gamepad. Soon more often than not the games will be 480p in handheld.

Playing the PC version, they still don't have the physics right (I think this is a Unity issue since it was a problem with the last game). Game's not bad, platforming can be hit or miss tho. The overworld is great, definitely the best part. Would recommend waiting for a sale if only cause it'll be better when they patch it down the line.

FYI, there is a secret ending if you manage to beat the Impossible Lair without any of the beetalion. Yeah, good luck with that.

@BloodyMurder
See, the clause "platforming can be hit or miss" in a PLATFORMING game scares me lol

I made up my mind to wait for a sale. I've seen enough to gather they still haven't gotten the weight and physics of the platforming right. That's so disappointing given the pedigree of the devs at their studio.

@DenDen so I have 29 beetallion, 105 or so twit coins, and attempted the lair. I beat the first boss, then went thru the entire lair, beat him again, he said a couple words to me, then vanished. I had literally no where to go, it just left me in the room with no doors opening to go somewhere else. Eventually I had to quit and go back to the overworld as there was literally nowhere to go. When i was back in the over world, it said i only did 25%. Did I do something wrong? I know you beat it which is why im asking you. Im just really confused on what to do next.

@Bunkerneath,

Mine displays a huge, ugly text box with French text. It covers a big part of the lovely artwork. Insane.

And why is there a day 1 update of almost 2 gb?! Isn't that a bit big?

I can't believe you are the only one who posted that there was 1.9GB update. I was thinking of posting it on day 1 but not until I found someone else did or if PlayTonic/Team17 announced it, which I can't seem to find ANY announcement wahtsoever.

What was the point of buying a physical cartridge if there was a 1.9GB day 1 update? Sheesh.

@NintendoByNature I think you got a glitch.

...Ugh, I tried playing this game last night...why does my wrist have to give me issues when all these games come out. TwT
At least it's getting better, so I'll be able to get back into this game soon.

@DenDen damn.. i didn't get a screenshot. Guess I'll give it another try but after that I might just stop playing, wouldn't be sure what else to do if it happens again.

@sanya_exe I hope you get well soon and the issues with your wrist stay away!

Just started this game yesterday. It's pretty fun despite not being the full 3D followup I'd like. The 3D overworld's exploration and puzzles, as well as the ability to create variants of the levels (and the way they integrated the two was quite clever as well, as you often have to solve puzzles in the overworld to unlock the variants which neatly ties the two gameplay modes together), are a nice consolation and makes this a lot more interesting than most 2D platformers. 2D platformers have been sorely lacking this kind of creativity, it's refreshing to see one that isn't just a by the numbers level pack sequel.

Also, holy hell Production Path- Panic is a nightmare, especially if you're going for the T.W.I.T. coins. You need to be pretty much perfect to get the 1st and 5th, they give you so little time to get those two.

Maybe this has already been answered but can you play this without having finished the first? I did buy the original and i do plan on eventually playing through it but I've heard so much praise for impossible lair and how similar it is to DKC i just had to check it out! Can i jump right in?

@Zeldafan79 There's no reason you would need to play the first one before this. It's not a story driven game.

In terms of "story," you're not missing anything aside from just knowing the various characters from the first game. It's basically just your typical "Hey! The villain is back with a second dastardly plan!"

I've said this in like every thread because I LOVE this game so much, but yea, if you like DKC platforming you're gonna love this. The controls are soooooooooooooooooooo much better than the first game (2D is way different than 3D, I know, but once you play both games you'll know what I mean), and the platforming does have that DKC feel with perhaps a slightly lighter feel to the jumping and rolling.

Personally, I actually like this game a smidge more than Tropical Freeze because of the neat overworld that has fun little puzzles and stuff. Nothing major, but more than just a connect-the-dots overworld. And strangely enough, I think this game does a better job of fleshing out the Yooka-Laylee world than the first game did. (I'm pretty bitter about the first game overall lol)

@rallydefault
Yeah I'm loving what I've played so far! I too wasn't so keen on the first game. It tried really hard to be the banjo threeie we never got but something was just off about it. Not sure what though.
