I get it that the sword gives Shulk the ability to have these quick future moment visions in order to change things for just a second or whatever but to me these visions do get in the way if you are doing fine in a simple boss battle or just attacking creatures along the way.
Im at the spider boss cavern area and its a simple easy boss battle but the stupid future vision thing gets in the way though.
Funny enough, that was actually one of my favorite things about the combat. I thought it was pretty cool how they added an important topic from the story into the gameplay. Where you're currently at in the story it won't feel very important, but as you unlock more talent arts, abilities, and party members there ends up being numerous ways you can deal with the visions.
Using the correct arts to stop a vision will boost the damage your party does to the enemy by 50% which I found to be pretty helpful. There are also really useful skills on the skill trees which give some really insane buffs when a vision appears. However, you also won't unlock these until much later in the game.
It doesn't happen that often. It also gets more complex as you progress, because there are a series of different attacks that you need to defend against, so it does certainly add to the challenge!
