I want Solid Snake back, but I just really don’t want anymore Fire Emblem characters. There’s too many that I feel like it should just be called Fire Emblem Bros instead. I mean, it’s forgivable that there are so many mario characters since there are like a hundred games with those characters, but no reason for so many FE characters outside of just being trophies or item-based helpers.

I think Sony did that because they first waned cross-play with Mircosoft forever ago and they declined them, so this is like their payback. Since neither Sony and Mircosoft (least the playerbases) took Nintendo as seriously, it makes sense Nintendo would be forgiving and open to "team-ups" for either side.

Totally agreed that there should be reworks on characters we know are returning. Mario, Link, Ganon, Falco, and just change Toon Link for Kid Link w/Masks.

I feel your pain of wanting a Mario character that has gotten no love from either Nintendo or people and very well be ironic of my asking this since people assume Birdo = Yoshi, but how would Daisy be different from Peach?

Birdo's a character I actually would love to see given more focus again and is one of the only Mario characters I would bring as a new character for Smash at this point. But Mario as a series is (understandably) so over-represented that unless we get to the point of a 70+ character roster, I would like to see focus on the many lesser known IPs instead of even MORE Mario characters.

I feel like even though there's too many Mario characters, there's too many prospective fighter ideas for them not to add at least one. Paper Mario, a Mario & Luigi representative, Petey Piranha, Waluigi, Captain Toad even, there's a lot of potential.
Honestly, Nintendo shoukd just make a Smash-style game featuring only Mario characters, and explore the deeper sections of Mario's universe wth it.
There's a ton of requests for characters with swords and guns. One of the things I like very much is when odd characters like Kirby joins, that has an attack based on something completely different.
Because of that, I would like to see Wex from Wild 9, who has a sort of "gravity gun" type of device that can grab people and slam them into the ground, or even other people.
Ok so I've never played a Smash game before (yeah I know I'm weird...) but I'm looking forward to some button smashing on my Switch with my friends. So here are some ideas, probably addressed before or totally irrelevant:

Abra (with Teleport, would be cool) (Pokémon)
Metal Man or Crash Man (Mega Man)
Guardian (Zelda)
Yubono or another Goron (Zelda)
Hammer Bro (Mario)
Reznor (Mario), Rhydon (Pokemon) or another rino-ish character
Cappy (Mario Odyssey)
Totally unrealistic but cool nonetheless:
Leonel Messi or another soccer player (maybe an ‘anti-hero’ or legend from the past, instead of a current hero) (FIFA)
Scorpion or Johnny Cage (Mortal Kombat)
James Bond (Golden Eye 007)
Crono (Chrono Trigger)
Bubsy
Aladdin or another Disney character
Vegeta (DBZ)
Worms
Tiger Woords (PGA Tour)
Tanya (Command&Conquer)
Scrooge McDuck (DuckTales)
Obi Wan Kenobi, R2D2 or another Star Wars character (Star Wars)
A lot of these are probably way off for licensing reasons, but it’d be cool to play with these characters. Most of them could offer some original movesets.
Crash - Because Microsoft's mascot finally deserves some representation
Darth Vader - Star Trek Wars! Pew, pew, pew
Donald Trump (with Obama, Bush, and Clinton alts) - That way you can take out your frustrations on your least favorite modern US president
Goku - Considered for Smash 4, but they couldn't solve an issue where his Final Smash would cause Wii Us to explode. Don't even ask what happened to the 3DS units...
InuYasha - This show was popular once!
John Cena - Though he'd be tough to play against since, "You Can't See Me!"
Master Chief - It's about time Sony's mascot got some representation
Santa Claus - That old geezer's finally going to pay for that one gift he never got you
Shrek - because nothing says Nintendo like a mediocre Dreamworks franchise that hasn't been relevant in a decade
Superman - If you're gonna have Goku...
By now I'm sure you've caught on to the fact that this is a, poor, attempt at humor. Though Crash just might make it in, and yes, I know he was the Playstation mascot.

I definitely feel you on that, like I WANT Birdo more than anything, but would (painfully) understand if Isaac was chosen over her simply because he is from a different game entirely...but dang it if I still won't be rooting for her inclusion, if only because Nintendo has been slowly taking her out of every game, Mario Kart, Mario Party and now from the looks of it, Mario Tennis Aces. Hoping for the best case scenario of Birdo and Isaac and other note-worthy characters making it together!

I kinda agree, like I remember hating that Mario characters were getting so much love compared to other Nintendo IP's, but now I can only really think of Mario characters to be put in. Outside of note-worthy characters like Ridley, Dark Samus, Krystal, Wolf O'Donnel, Skull Kid, Midna and Ice-Climbers.
Just as people have been mentioning with just Mario characters, Waluigi, Paper Mario (or anyone else), and Birdo are all also viable choices.

You are weird for never playing Smash xD! but not in a bad way.
Though what I want and what you want are different, I can still respect your choices. As for what's realistic or not getting into Smash, the only ones truly un-realistic are those not originally from video games. I mean did anyone foresee Mega-Man, Pac-Man, Duck-Hunt, Wii-Fit Trainer, CLOUD, RYU, or Bayonetta being in Smash 4 or even Snake in Brawl? I doubt it!

Hey, was just chatting with a dude on here about how Mircosoft is being all buddy-buddy with Nintendo now-a-days, so it's not to far-fetch to see both Master Cheif and Banjo & Kazooie. I mean, like I previously said, did you ever expect Snake in Smash? I bet Mircosoft is on much better terms with Nintendo than Konami was.

That was the excuse for why they didn't include him in Smash 4. I personally find that to be weak since Bowser is generally massive in size (you see him in Mario Odyssey?), yet he's still in the game. They could easily reduce the size for Ridley.

Don't think she would introduce a new mechanic (unless she can do things I have no idea about), just be a new character.
Yes and No, Yes because the character would stick out from the rest and be fresh, No because said character could be overly-complex to use like Bayonetta and I like simplicity (Not saying I don't like Bayo and think she shouldn't be in the game, it's just I can't use her in the slightest). It's why I play Smash and not other fighting games.
